However, like most, there is more to Gwaine that is first apparent. He isn’t hiding any deep, dark secrets-he’s much too straightforward for that-but he does often perceive more than he lets on. Perhaps one of the most important things about Gwaine’s personality is his view of those in power. He has little respect for or trust in kings and knights, largely because they abandoned his mother after his father’s death. Because of this, he regards royalty as “certainly not worth dying for”. The only royal who ever challenges this notion is Prince Arthur, who impresses Gwaine with his loyalty, justness, and sense of honor
