Well, I officially signed a lease today to stay in this apartment through at least summer of 2006. It was a relief to lock in the price they'd offered on the phone. I had an irrational fear that the owner would decide that he wanted more money, after all. On the other hand, it was kind of scary to commit to this place by myself for that long. I ( Read more... )

I am curious about how the cats will get along, in my experience many cats dont get along with each other, especially those fraidy cat types. Have they both been declawed? If genies cat has not, you may want to think twice about letting them be together when you are not there. Also, cats sometimes freak out when moved to a new and strange location, especially fraidy cats. Moving him might be more traumatic than him lacking social contact for a few weeks.

Another cat thought I had was, when getting your new cat, you should try to either get one without claws or declaw it, because if memory serves, your current cat is declawed, and cats with claws literally like to torture those without. Another thing is you should attempt to get your new cat as young as possible, so they are less set intheir ways and they are more likely to get along with new cats they encounter.

First paragraph:
I'll ask Jeannie about whether Mr. Skeffington was exposed to other cats at the humane society and how he reacted, but from his general behavior, I think he's much more likely to just hide than pick a fight with Kanika. And I'll double-check, but I don't think John would allow a cat that wasn't declawed, even for Jeannie.

Second paragraph:
I fully intend to get a cat that is declawed or I'll have it done. The other cool thing about Kanika is that even though she is very friendly and affectionate, she's also a bit of a pushy bitch. So I'm not really worried about her being overly abused by another cat.
