Summary: Riku and Kairi have a plan for Riku dating Sora...
Riku had been going out Kairi for about three weeks when she finally heaved a sigh and whacked her silver haired best friend (known to the entire school as her boyfriend) upside the head. Said teen grimaced and glanced over to her, when she narrowed her eyes in distaste.
“Kairi, the answer to the problem is five,” he offered, tapping her math notebook with his pencil. Her eyes narrowed into even smaller slits and he shrunk back, not wanting to be on the end of Kairi’s wrath. Especially since they were in the middle of the library - he didn’t want to have to fend his best friend (but known to the student body as his girlfriend) with neither his Keyblade nor his textbook.
She signed dramatically and put her pencil down. She wasn’t even doing her math homework - it was just a part of her disguse. “Riku, when are you going to ask Sora out?”
Riku froze and stopped chewing on the end of his pencil. “What do you mean?” he inquired, giving her an innocent smile. “You know I love…”
Kairi rolled her eyes. “Riku, you told me when we started ‘going out,’” she even made air quotes to prove her point, “that you wanted Sora. Why are you suddenly going against that?”
He exhaled and tapped the table with his pencil. “I don’t know… it’s just that he seems so jealous of us…” Kairi made the point of showing that he was stating the obvious by giving a groan. She basically had to resist the urge to slam her head against the table. “But knowing him, he’s just jealous of me…seeing as he did like you before the first adventure…”
“Riku, Riku, Riku…” Kairi shook her head. “You and I both know that Sora’s… a little dense about love matters. Now if you don’t ask him out soon, I’ll ‘dump you’,” cue air quotes again, “and Sora will be forced to see that you’re a pathetic loser who can’t ask anyone out!” Riku gave a look of mock hurt, and she shrugged. “Sorry.”
Shaking his head, he leaned back in his chair. “Alright, alright…” he muttered, groaning. “I’ll ask him later today. Promise.”
“Remember, do it in a place where no one else from school is, as to not destroy out plan!” She grinned widely. “I don’t really care what other people believe -you two will look so cute together! Except that it’s more than obvious that Sora will top you because he is just like that.”
Riku gave her a horrified look. “How long have you been speculating this?” he inquired, making an “x” with his fingers. “Never mind. I don’t want to know what goes on in that head of yours.”
She simply grinned and continued to work on her English assignment.

The entire plan had already worked out. Sora was already coming over Riku’s house for the weekend, seeing as Sora’s parents were going out of town. Riku almost thought the timing was impeccably good, but Kaylee (Sora’s mom) already knew about Riku’s secret crush, so she wasn’t too worried about it.
That and she promised to murder Riku in his sleep if he dared to do anything that could harm her wonderful son.
Riku shook his head, before turning back the television, where Sora was easily beating the stuffing out of the bad guy. Truthfully, Riku wasn’t even sure what game Sora was playing, but it had to be a fun one, seeing as the brunet was continually screaming at the television and gripping his controller dangerously. And his shirt is riding up…, Riku thought, smiling to himself. He suddenly groaned and buried his face in his pillow. He couldn’t last a weekend, especially now that Kairi expected him to tell the brunet he liked him…
There was an agitated scream and Riku glanced back to the television to see Sora sighing and throwing down the controller, his character having exploded. A faint knock at the door forced both of the boys to turn around, and Riku’s dad stepped in, smiling widely.
“Heya, Sora!” Sora gave a grin to Riku’s dad. His dad turned to Riku. “And kiddo? You have a phone call…”
“I’ll be right back, Sora,” Riku said, rolling off his bed and heading to the door. “Thanks, dad.”
“No problem!” His dad grinned back. “Just letting you know that I was going to head to the driving range for about an hour. I can trust you two with the house, right?”
Riku gave a nod and Sora snorted. “Sure, just don’t let Riku near the stove,” Sora exclaimed, the smirk on his face widening. Riku gave the brunet a dark look as his dad continued to laugh.
“If I remember, Sora,” Riku began, as he continued walking out of the room. “You’re the one that almost burnt your kitchen down.”
Sora gave his best friend a hurt look; Riku gave an unapologetic shrug and left his room, picking up the phone and answering it with an uninterested, “Hello?”
“Riku!” Said teen groaned as he recognized Kairi’s voice on the other end of the line. “Have you told him yet?”
“Not yet…” Riku admitted, grimacing and looking back to his room, where Sora was looking around on his bookshelf. After a loud groan came from the other end, he narrowed his eyes. “Look, I’ll tell you when I do! Kairi, calm down…”
“You’d better.” Riku almost jerked his head away from the phone in surprise. Kairi sounded unusually sincere about this. Sure, she said she was behind the two of them, but this was beginning to creep him out. “And if you don’t…” she warned, her voice lowering, as if trying to scare him even more. It certainly worked. Suddenly, she pepped up. “Anyway, I’ll call you later! Bye!”
And she then hung up.
Riku stared blankly at the phone, before hanging the phone back up with a sigh. His dad had just left the house for an hour, his mom was away at work, and he was stuck at home with Sora, being forced to tell the brunet that he liked him.
This would certainly go over well.

“So lemme get this straight,” Sora stated, running a hand through his spiky brunet hair. Riku sighed and fell back onto his bed, closed his eyes, and wished for something above to take pity on him, open a chasm in the ground, and swallow him whole. Riku had already told Sora he liked him, and that Kairi and he had been going out only to make him jealous, but Sora…still didn’t get it.
He loved the brunet, but it was all he could do to resist slamming his head against a wall in defeat.
“Apparently, you like me… but you and Kairi lied to me for me to get jealous… but I didn’t notice, so you took this choice of action! Am I right?” Riku have a weak nod; he would be exceptionally overjoyed that Sora had understood so easily, but he had been repeating the same question for almost a half hour, as if trying to pry something out of Riku…
“Yes, Sora,” Riku sighed, rolling over to face the brunet. “I love you. A lot. I realize you probably like Kairi more, so our idea was stupid, or you probably don’t even like guys, so my entire thought process was stupid…” Riku was so busy rambling, expecting Sora to go sprinting out of the room in horror, that he didn’t notice when said brunet plopped down onto the bed next to him. “Heck, for all I know, you probably like Selphie……”
“Riku?” Sora blinked, smiling down to the other teen.
Glancing up, Riku opened his mouth to respond, only to be what he would call “glomped” by Sora. But not just any glomp -by the time Riku realized what was going on, he was on the receiving end of a kiss that was so forceful, he was currently being shoved against his wall. He gave a slight smile (as much as he could, anyway, from being kissed to violently) and reciprocated.
When they finally broke apart (people do have to breathe!), Riku gave the brunet a curious look as Sora smiled maliciously. “Sora… how did you…? Why did you…?” Riku attempted to ask, but no words could coherently come out.
A small laugh came from Sora. “You do look adorable with kiss-bruised lips,” he remarked, grinning widely at the now scowling Riku. Sora then gave a shrug, and fell back onto the bed, snuggling against Riku. “Truthfully? It took you long enough. Kairi said you would have confessed a long time ago.”
Riku’s shot up in confusion and he stared down at the brunet. “Wait… Kairi told you?”
Another malevolent smile came from Sora; Riku didn’t know the Keybearer could look so evil and adorable at the same time. “Actually, she called me to come up with the plan. The real plan was for you to confess, but if took you so long…” Ending on what sounded like a whine, he sighed and cuddled closer to Riku. “But it worked out, right?”
“I’m going to kill her,” Riku mumbled, shaking his head. “I love Kairi and all, but I’m still going to-” He was cut off again when Sora quickly ended his snuggling and kissed him again. They parted and Riku ran a hand through his now unruly hair. “Well…maybe I won’t kill her right now…”
Sora gave Riku a smile before hugging him tightly. “That’s good.”
