Riku knew something was wrong the moment he awoke suddenly from his peaceful slumber, a satin pillow gracing his head. He jerked awake, not paying any attention to the warm, comfortable bed he had been lying on, and quickly reached into the Darkness to retrieve his weapon. Although he wasn’t too shocked that he couldn’t call his weapon to him, he was beginning to get nervous at the reasons why he couldn’t.

He quickly leapt from the bed, his feet softy padding against the floor, and looked around, hoping to find some sort of weapon he could use. Nothing, he cursed to himself, as he clenched his hands into fists before opening the door and stepping out of the room he had awoken in.

Almost wincing at the color design of this hallway (everything was entirely white!), Riku stole a glance down to his own outfit and looked back to the room he’d awoken in only to discover that it was all matching. Shuddering to himself, he shook his head and almost stumbled down the hallway, wanting - no, planning to demand, drag answers out of the first person he saw.

Maybe not the first person, he mused, as he noticed a group of children playing off towards the side of the hallway. He cocked his head, wondering if he’d gone batshit insane, but no, that was a patch of grass innocently resting in the middle of the hallway that the children were playing in. Shaking his head, Riku continued on before almost tripping over a small boy. The boy looked older than the children he had seen earlier, but still not old enough to blame, so Riku crouched down and asked the child his name.

The child glanced up. “You know it well.”

Riku blinked in confusion and the child reached a hand to his forehead and gently poked him. Riku shook his head again, wondering what in the world was with this place, before another glance to the boy showed him that the boy wasn’t just any child -that was a mirror image of him when he was a boy! From his silver locks to his piercing sea-green eyes, Riku almost jumped back, feeling as if he’d looked into a time-traveling mirror.

“Well, uh, Riku,” said teen stuttered, feeling strange to ask himself what was going on. “Where are we?”

“Isn’t it obvious?” the child (Riku didn’t know how to refer to this child as Riku) said. “It’s the most perfect place ever created. Everyone wants to be here.”

This Riku, this little clone of him, it wasn’t him at all. Sure, the expressions might have been the same; they might have been the exact same side by side, but the personalities… This little Riku clone was so bland, so uncaring…

“Unless you don’t want to be here.”

Riku scowled at the child and half thought about getting up. He couldn’t; something -some strong force - was holding him down, kneeling next to this child clone of his. “I don’t!” he hissed, mostly for his (him? The child? No…most definitely him) benefit. “I need to see Sora again. I have to help Kairi!”

The child gave him a small smile. “Good.” Riku’s face became screwed up in confusion and the boy lightly tugged on Riku’s own silver locks. “If you had ignored me and went on, you wouldn’t have had a chance to go back.”

Riku was about to ask the child version of himself what they meant when there was suddenly a calming green light above his head, and he jolted awake. King Mickey was standing above him, an empty potion bottle in his hand. A quick glance to hands showed him that Soul Eater was still gripped tightly in his hand as it had been before.

“Sorry about that, Riku!” the King exclaimed, patting the silver haired teen’s back. “Didn’t think those Heartless were that strong!”

Riku shook his head before placing his head in his hands. King Mickey gave him a confused look, and Riku gave a snort before shaking his head and standing. “It’s nothing.”
