Summary: Roxas is new to the Organization, and someone has to show the punk his place.

Notes: Um... this, I guess, was inspired by a picture I saw...somewhere. ...That sounds so stupid. But it was when Axel couldn't fight anymore, and Roxas had to take action.

Number Thirteen was brand new to the Organization, and someone had to show the kid the ropes. Unfortunately for Axel, Xemnas had chosen him to be the one to show Roxas how things were done around here. Seeing as Axel really didn’t feel like becoming a Dusk anytime soon, he grumbled to himself under his breath, summoned a dark portal, and ended up on the outside of Roxas’s room.
“Twerp, time to go,” he exclaimed, knocking on the door once. “If you’re not out in five seconds, I’m walking in.”
A minute passed, and seeing as there was no noise coming from the kid’s room, Axel walked in, only to see the blond sleeping on his bed. Axel smirked before climbing onto the bed and staring down into the blonde’s face. Another minute passed, until Roxas squinted his left eye open, wondering what the extra weight on him was.
There was a shout, and Roxas attempted to leap out of bed, but Axel kept his grip on the blond unnaturally tight. “Took you long enough. Get up, get dressed, and meet me outside in two minutes,” Axel instructed, finally climbing off the bed and heading towards the door. When Roxas didn’t move, Axel rolled his eyes; a second later, the edge of Roxas’s bed sheet was alit in flames. Roxas jumped again and patted the flame out before scowling.
“I’m going, I’m going!” Axel simply grinned and stepped outside the door, shutting it to be polite (which was such an unnatural concept. Seriously -this mission should’ve gone to Demyx. At least the ninth member could possibly like the twerp, at least more so than Axel did).
When Roxas finally stumbled out of the room, Axel was already summoning another darkness portal. “Where are we going?” he questioned, adjusting his cloak.
Axel barely turned his head, but gave the blond a smirk nonetheless. “We’re going out for a test -just to see if you’re as good of a fighter as Xemnas says.” With that said, he grabbed Roxas’s arm and dragged him through the portal.

Roxas had, by Axel’s request (read: threat), stayed behind the redhead to allow him to fight. The mission was a simple one -clean out the heartless from the Dark City - and Axel wanted to prove to the blond that he was the stronger one. He didn’t want some snot-nosed punk to pretend that he was better just because Xemnas had said so.
“Those are -well, were - Shadows. And those are Neo-Shadows. Watch out for them, they could gang up on you.” Axel smirked and raised his chakram, preparing to strike.
“Axel, look out!” Axel stopped before turning around, expecting to see the blond, but instead, got thrown onto the ground. He growled under his breath before getting back to his feet and surveyed the area.
…Well, damn. Had the Heartless been gathering under his nose as he gloated to Roxas? There certainly weren’t this many Heartless beforehand, nor were they this strong. It was almost as if they…had powered up -an impossible task for such low level beings. Vexen would have his head for suggesting such an idea.
But Axel never had this much trouble with them before.
Roxas watched, feeling angry. “Do you need help, Axel?” he asked, almost tauntingly. Hmph. Stupid redhead thought he could show off, and was now getting his ass kicked by some weak looking Heartless? Pathetic.
But then Roxas noticed that Axel wasn’t looking so good. The normally haughty Organization member, known for smirking during battle, was too busy trying to stand upright and breathe, only to be knocked down by another stronger Heartless.
And finally…Axel gave an embarrassed grin over to Roxas and collapsed onto the ground. The Heartless crowed around him, looking as though they wanted to pry his heart out -and then realized that he had none.
Suddenly, all of the Heartless turned to Roxas, their expressions blank. Roxas cursed under his breath at Axel before summoning his Keyblades from Nothingness, and descended into battle. Contrary to the redhead’s belief, Roxas’s wasn’t weak. The idiot didn’t even give him a chance to fight.

The first thing Axel saw was the ceiling. It was certainly a nice ceiling, blank, as if the owner of the room hadn’t had much time to decorate. A thought flittered through his head, and he shot up, summoning his chakrams, wary of the Heartless. …At least, there should’ve been Heartless; he didn’t remember defeating them…
“I did.” Axel turned and saw Roxas walking in, closing the door softly behind him. “You were beaten by them. I defeated them and dragged you up to the castle.”
Replaying the events in his head, Axel realized that what the blond was saying had to be true. Dispersing his weapon, he fell back onto the bed in an almost angry state. He was supposed to be stronger than this …kid! And now the twerp was going to go back to the others, more than likely telling them that he had to save Axel, instead of the other way around… Just the thought made Axel burn up, even more so than usual.
“Look,” Roxas began, setting down the cup he had been holding onto a bedside table and sitting on the bed. Axel scowled at the blond. “I don’t know what your problem was, and I don’t really care. I simply carried you back to my room so you could heal up.”
There was a pause before the two, and then Axel asked, “…Did anyone see us?”
Roxas snorted before grabbing the cup again and handing it to Axel. “No. I’m afraid your pride hasn’t been affected by this.”
Axel nodded, holding the cup in one hand, and placing his other hand on Roxas’s arm. “…Thanks.” He chuckled and shook his head before leaning back onto the pillows.
Roxas gave him almost a childish grin before getting up to leave. “You’re welcome.”
