Title: What The Doctor Ordered
Pairing: JunDa
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 2084 - It was supposed to be a 500 word drabble, but I'm getting worse and worse at this whole 'word limit' thing!
Disclaimer: I don't own anyone or anything
Summary: Ueda-sensei, the PE instructor, is good but he's clumsy. He used to prefer self-medication but with the new doctor, he doesn't mind going to the clinic.
A/N: Written for pautami for the FUND-RAISING FOR HABAGAT FLOOD VICTIMS $1-for-a-drabble fic event. I really loved this prompt and I got totally carried away with it...actually I could probably have written double this if I'd had the free time too!

He hissed in pain as he went down, rolling to his side to cushion the impact.

“Sensei!” someone called, and then 20 pairs of feet came rushing towards him.

For a PE-teacher, Ueda Tatsuya was surprisingly clumsy - this kind of thing happened at least once a week.

“Sensei are you ok?” one of the boys asked, crouching beside him.

“I’m fine, thank you” he replied, sitting up, and then pushing himself up as much as he could as two of his student s helped him. They took him over to the bench at the side of the hall and he was relieved when he could sit down again and take the weight off his ankle.

“I thought we were supposed to playing basketball today” came a wry voice through the crowd of students, and then his colleague and fellow PE-teacher, Kamenashi-sensei appeared.

“We were…” Ueda pouted.

“Then how did you even manage to trip over the ball…”

“Ahhh, Kame-chan” he replied a little unprofessionally “You just don’t have the same talent for basketball that I do, you should stick to baseball.”

There was a roar of laughter from the students, though none was laughing as hard as Kame himself.

“Ok guys, class dismissed.” Kame said to the crowd, and as they turned away cheering, he took a seat beside his friend. “What did you hurt this time?”

“My ankle” Ueda replied immediately, letting his pain show through now that the students were gone, and he gritted his teeth as Kame slid to the floor, peeling off his trainers and socks to take a look.

“Tacchan, your ankle is swelling up really bad already, this doesn’t look good.”

“I’ll be alright, I just need to get home and rest it…” he insisted, thankful at least that most of his PE-lessons were in the last period of the day.

Kame was shaking his head “I’m taking you to the hospital…and since you clearly can’t drive like that you don’t have much choice than to go wherever I take you really…”

He rolled his eyes, but Kame had a point, he really didn’t have any other options than to let Kame drive him. Still he argued his point the whole way to the emergency room. He was still whining when they were asked to take a seat in the waiting room.

“What’s the point in waiting to see a doctor? It could take hours to get in there and it’s not like they’ll do anything other than tell me to go home and rest it…” but Kame had stopped paying attention to him “Kame…really how long have you known me…and how often do I get hurt? Huh? I’m pretty experienced at taking care of myself now…I don’t need to see a doctor every time I trip!”

Sooner than he expected, his number was flashing across the screen, and Kame was helping him along to the treatment room.

“Ueda-san is it?” a cheery voice asked as he stepped into the room. But the face he was met with turned to a pout immediately “A foot injury I see?”

Ueda’s breath caught in his throat when the young doctor looked back up to his face, and though he was vaguely aware that he had been asked a question, his mouth was too dry to speak.

“It’s his ankle…he tripped over a basketball…” Kame supplied instead, and Ueda wished he’d managed to speak for himself, he could have at least made it sound slightly less lame.

The doctor nodded as though he understood and then he broke into a wide grin as he spoke again “I’m Taguchi Junnosuke, I’m one of the new doctors here at the clinic…if you’d like to pop up on that table there I’ll take a look at your ankle.

Kame helped him up onto the table and he dangled his leg over the side of it as Taguchi moved to sit on a stool in front of him.

The doctors hands were much softer than Kame’s hand been, they were warm and gentle and Ueda couldn’t help relaxing despite the throbbing pain in his ankle. The way Taguchi handled his foot, stroking lightly and pressing just gently enough that it wasn’t too painful, was actually quite pleasant, and he had to physically stop himself from protesting when the hands left him.

“That’s definitely a sprain, thankfully it’s not a bad one, I’ll wrap it up for you, but really you just need to take it easy for a day or two, try not to move around too much and try to keep it elevated whenever possible, particularly when you go to bed.” Taguchi said, smiling encouragingly, but Ueda couldn’t help notice the slight flushing of his cheeks when he’d mentioned going to bed. The implication had him flushing too, and Taguchi let out a shy laugh as their eyes locked, but then Kame cleared his throat, snapping them back to reality.

“Oh, you’ll need to put ice on it to keep the swelling down, just for 20 minutes every 4 hours, ok?” and he turned to gather the bandages before wrapping them comfortably tightly around Ueda’s ankle.

It was only when he was back on his feet, or rather his foot, that Ueda realised he hadn’t said a single word the whole time he’d been here.

“Take care now.” Taguchi called as they headed towards the door.

“He’ll probably be back next week with another injury…” Kame smirked.

And just as they reached the door, Ueda turned back “Th…thank you…for…thank you…” he stuttered nervously, his cheeks burning.

The next week it was his hip. It was another fall, only this time it was during a gymnastics lesson, and it was from a metre and a half up a climbing rope.

“Hospital” he groaned as Kame rushed over to him, and once again the class was dismissed early.

“You know we’re both going to be fired if you keep this up you know…there’s no way the principal hasn’t noticed already.” Kame muttered to him as they sat in the waiting room.

“I’m sorry…I don’t know why I’m so clumsy.” He answered, feeling a little guilty, though mostly anxious at the possibility he might get to see Taguchi sensei again.

Kame sighed “All I know is you’ve never had any trouble climbing a rope before…I think you just wanted to see that cute doctor again…”

“I did not, you know I hate hospitals…I wouldn’t have agreed to come here if I wasn’t in pain” he retorted, but he could feel his cheeks burning again. Kame didn’t reply, but he could see the smug smile playing on his lips.

He felt a little disappointed when his number flashed across the screen, indicating a different treatment room to the last time, but he tried not to let it get to him, after all, he definitely wasn’t here to see that stupid doctor, no matter how cute he was.

“Ueda-san, we meet again” called the familiar voice when he entered the room and his heart skipped a beat when he saw Taguchi’s face.

“Sorry to bother you again sensei” Kame muttered, “He fell from a climbing rope this time, his right hip is swelling pretty badly.”

Taguchi nodded, “let’s get you on the bed this time, you might be more comfortable laying down” but his cheeks flushed again at his own words. His cheeks flushed brighter still once Ueda was laying comfortably on the bed, and he had to begin his examination. “Can you point to where it hurts?”

Ueda swallowed hard, but he was determined not to make as much of a fool of himself this time. He pointed to his hip bone “It starts here, but it hurts most of the way down my right leg.”

“Hmm” Taguchi said as he nodded “Would you…” he cleared his throat “Would you mind taking your tracksuit bottoms down a little.

Kame snorted from beside him as his own eyes widened. “Come on Tacchan, don’t be a prude, how can the nice doctor feel your hip bones properly with those things on?”

He shot a glare at Kame, but he did as Taguchi asked, wincing as he lifted up to pull them down a little.

Taguchi didn’t look up at his face as he swallowed hard, pushing his small glasses a little higher on his nose, before finally resting his hands against Ueda’s hip.

Ueda was thankful that at least his hip did hurt really badly, if not for the sharp stings of pain, he didn’t know how he would have made it though the exam without any embarrassing bodily reactions. There was just something about the gentle way Taguchi handled him, his hands gripping his hip just hard enough while his touch remained soft.

He couldn’t stop himself from staring at the doctor’s face the whole time, his skin looked so smooth, and his eyes lively, crinkling just a little at his brow where it was furrowed in concentration. His lips looked soft too, and a little red from the way he was biting into them as he hooked his fingers under the waistband of Ueda’s boxers, pulling them just an inch lower to see the already purpling skin of Ueda’s hip.

Taguchi cleared his throat as he stepped back a little, removing his hands from Ueda’s skin and taking off his glasses to wipe at his forehead with the back of his sleeve. “Well, it doesn’t feel broken, just take things easy and keep applying ice to try and bring down the swelling. In a few days, if you’re still in a lot of pain, or the swelling won’t go down, then come back to have it checked out again.”

Ueda nodded “Thank you”, and then Kame helped him up from the bed as Ueda pulled his tracksuit bottoms back up.

“See you next week sensei” Kame laughed, and the smile that lit up the doctors face made Ueda think it would be worth coming back the next week just to see that smile again.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Ueda was surprised that he’d made it through a full week of school without injuring himself, surprised, though strangely not as happy as he should be.

“What’s wrong with me?” he mumbled to his dog, Eri, as they walked through the park. He’d barely stopped thinking of that doctor since his last visit, he couldn’t get the image of his smile out of his mind, the way his eyes crinkled at the corners. He couldn’t stop thinking of his hands either, their warmth, the soft way they ran over his skin, and he shuddered at the thought.

He was too lost in thought to even hear the bike, but Eri did. Before he could react, the dog was speeding off after the bike, he felt the leash tighten around his wrist, pulling uncomfortably against his hand.

He shouted for Eri to stop, but she paid no attention, and he heard a loud crack from his wrist just as he tumbled to the floor.

He pushed himself up, clutching his wrist to his chest, but in all honesty he was more concerned about the dog he could see running off into the distance, than his own pain. “Stupid dog” he muttered, and he limped over to a nearby bench to sit down, deciding to catch his breath for a minute before setting off to find her.

He didn’t have to go far before he heard a familiar bark, and a tall, dark haired man came jogging towards him, Eri straining on her leash in front of him.

“There you are, stupid dog” he snapped at her, but he was already on his knees, rubbing his good hand through her soggy fur as she tried to climb on him, licking him wherever she could reach.

“Ueda-san?” came a familiar voice, and Ueda froze, before looking up slowly at the handsome doctor.

“Taguchi-sensei?” he asked as he slowly got up.

“Please, just Taguchi…or Junno if you prefer…it’s my day off today.” He replied, that perfect grin lighting up his face. “I take it this belongs to you?” And he passed over the dog lead, seeming to notice for the first time that Ueda was clutching a hand to his chest. “Are you ok? Did you hurt you hand?”

Ueda grimaced “Eri took off after a bike…there was a cracking noise and my wrist…”

“Come on I’ll get you to the hospital”

A small smile broke over Ueda’s face “I don’t want to…I hate hospitals…”

The ending is kind of crappy, but I had to find someway to finish it or would have just kept on going and going!
