[Delicately, delicately, L plucks a strand of Nina's hair off of her shoulder. It's silky between the tip of his thumb and his index finger.
He gives it a sharp tug, one which seems to be experimental.]

[His tone is thoughtful in a way that indicates that her hair has most of his attention. His focus on it intensifies, his gaze sharpening and his eyebrows drawing together. His interest seems to reach some threshold, though, as it vanishes in a snap, and he turns his attention towards her more fully.]
Hair and fiber were found at the scene. The hair was approximately the same color as yours. If I take a sample from you, I can determine whether or not your brother was present. Obviously, it would be extremely helpful to be able to identify him in the database.

[He stares at her, something working behind his wide, dark eyes, and lets her hair slip through his fingers. What comes next happens all at once. His arms clap around her and his forehead collapses to rest against her shoulder; his hunched posture means that it doesn't have far to go. His hold on her is more awkward and distant than warm or affectionate.]
