Agreed on age. I claimed when I was 15 and feel even stronger about my stance now that I'm 22.

It's hard to say if it's arrogant or redundant. Or maybe I'm just the same way. I often cringe when I hear my 13 year old cousin call himself straight edge because he's somewhat heard of me. He asks me to scream like that dude from Disturbed in the song "Down with the Sickness" and has idea on how to distinguish hardcore from something like nu-metal or thrash, etc. I guess the only thing I can do is educate him. but at the same time you should be able to like what you like. Straight edge was also built around hardcore ethic though. Gah ( ... )

Arrogant and redundant? I don't know, I think its normal in some way. I've been through all that, and for me it changed over the years. Deep inside i've always been the kind of person who likes to try hard to see the potential in other people that make efforts to progress. Sometime it feels like some people dont have other thoughts about straight edge and yes it can be irritating at times, but I'm still learning to accept people with their biggest flaws, and speak my mind at the same time without necessarily being close minded. I guess it depends on what you have found inside yourself in your life in general, if you think its arrogant, its your right to think so, but you can still try to see some good things in these people, even though sometimes it might not work ( ... )
