Quick weekend recap

Friday - one of my coworkers decided to invite me out for lunch due to a variety of factors.  Long story short, he ended up taking me to Hooters, that mecca of semi-socially acceptable female objectification.  I haven't been to one of those places since I was a teenager, and the experience was pretty much as I remembered: lousy food, young women ( Read more... )

Wall-E was pretty down in some regards too. I guess they want to make sure adults get their own meaning from their movies now. Dunno, they skirt a dangerous edge, but wow, their illustrations are incredible still.

Yeah, it seems as though they're adding a touch more material aimed at the adults in the audience. Disney has always included little jokes or tidbits aimed at the adults, as they want the adults to be amused, and the kids will laugh with the adults, even if they miss the meaning of the humor. Both wall-e and up contain not just jokes aimed at the parents, but parts of the plot itself. Could be a good or bad thing, depending on how well they skate that line. I enjoyed the movie, and it got me to thinking, so I won't complain.
