What the hell is up with this weather? Snow on the sixteenth of April? This is the most miserable spring I have encountered since I moved here in 1990. Bah!

Welcome to Ottawa!

Do you remember the first two weeks of January this year? Unusually warm? No snow? Right.

Well, this is the payback. And, you know what they say about paybacks...

Yes, you're right. This was the latest winter I've encountered since then as well. :(

with all of these false alarms and big build ups, i fear that when we finally do get a serious storm, everyone will ignore the warnings. or else, people will just overreact.

Am I overreacting to snow by refusing to leave the house?

Is it hurricanes you're worried about?

It might be Fimbulwinter; or at least fimbulspring.

OTOH, the birds are just making fools of themselves at our birdfeeders - today we had starlings, mourning doves, red-wing blackbirds, finches, blue jays, cowbirds, and the occasional sparrow. I might have seen a catbird, too.

Sweet! I love the birdies. The first warm, dry weekend I'm taking my binoculars and birdbook to Mud Lake and birdwatch.

oh, yeah...I forgot. Global Warming(TM) only applies to the Lower 48.

Duh.

so it never snows in Portland, right? We're talking once every 5 years. It snows in Istanbul EVERY year. Big sticky wonderful snow. The one year I leave Portland to live in Istanbul . . .

yup, you guessed it. It snows in Portland and only sheds a smattering of ice-hard pellts in Istanbul - oh, and it sheds them while I'm in a plane attempting to land. After we've landed and have only barely escaped with our lives, it stops snowing.

I have little sympathy. Come enjoy my snowlessness?

Heeheee...that happened when I moved to Nova Scotia. They had gobs of snow and cold there and Ottawa had a mild winter that year.

I would SO be in Istanbul if I could afford it.
