His fingers trace along the smooth curve of her bell, and he dances them along to caress her two joints, upper and lower. Looking closely, he can see his reflection in her fine pieces of silver, and almost loses himself in them, staring. She waits ( Read more... )

I am glad you enjoyed it!

Oh, in that case, I'm curious why you used G as the tuning note? I haven't played my clarinet in a couple of years, but I think tuning with G is actually more unreliable because it uses no fingers? Yeah, not too sure about that one.

When I was still in band though, the clarinet section tuned to the first oboist with a B (which is...concert C... I think?). Before we had an oboist, and I was in a lower level band, we tuned with a C. (This is assuming John's using a B flat clarinet)

Good point. I settled on using G simply because it uses no fingers. I vaguely--very very vaguely!--remember something about the clarinets in our band using G for something, but I will gladly defer to someone else's expertise as to whether or not it's the correct tuning note!

I do remember we usually tuned to B, maybe B flat? Wow, it's been too long. :(

(And yes, it's a B-flat Clarinet. That actually becomes an important plot point later on, heh!)
