Okay, obviously I have to say Brian Wilson's SMiLE because it's the best thing ever right now... but as for new new stuff, there's...

1. Tegan and Sara - I have their two most recent albums, So Jealous and If It Was You and they're both fantastic. If you want to pick a few good songs to sample, go with "Living Room," "Time Running," "I Hear Noises," "I Know I Know I Know," "Where Does the Good Go," or "I Can Take It." But really, I don't think you can go wrong here.

2. Related to the above, Matt Sharp and Maya Rudolph covered a T&S song, "Not Tonight" that is really great as well. You can download it here (just right click and save as).

3. Any song by X from their album More Fun in the New World ("The New World," and "I Must Not Think Bad Thoughts" are my favorites)

4. David Byrne's latest album, Grown Backwards has a lot of good tracks on it, especially "Glass, Concrete and Stone," and "She Only Sleeps," and "Lazy." The reissued The Name of this band is Talking Heads is pretty badass as well ( ... )

Neutral Milk Hotel - "Oh Comely," "Two-Headed Boy" (Parts 1 & 2), and pretty much anything else by them .. Look for stuff off of On Avery Island.

well just off the top of my head or based on things I've gotten recently at the station....

S. - Puking and Crying is this chick from Seattle and its wonderful and passionate and maybe like Cat Power (at least some say that) but more electronic / lo-fi

Devendra Banhart's latest album Nino Rojo...Devendra is WAY sexy and only 22 mmm

Timewellspent - ...reminds me a lot of Yo La Tengo

Two Lone Swordsmen -
From the Double Gone Chapel...my absolute favorite album on the summer...Warp records...makes you want to dance and still rocks the face off

Pale Saints - Comfort of Madness...pretty shoegaze-y quite a bit like the Stone Roses...if you dig that kinda thing

You probably can't find any of that to d/l -- maybe some of it. I share all my music on IM so feel free to grab stuff from me anytime (pezbabypez). Being the wcwm music director definitely has its perks but it fills my harddrive too.
