wow, Japan! I'm unbelievably fascinated by Japanese culture. A friend of mine is moving there in August and I've begged her to buy me some authentic sushi plates.
oh, and a friend of mine visited Japan two years ago and smuggled back some Asahi beer and it was deeelicious! the sake was terrible though, ew.
I heard from some friends of mine living in Japan (one is from the U.S., one is Japanese), that the best (relatively inexpensive) sake comes in BOXES. Like Franzia. Who knows? I never would have guessed that and maybe they're just weird, but that's what they say. I suppose I'll have to find out for myself.
Yes, I will be taking many, many pictures! I'll probably be posting a couple of the best ones and maybe a link to the rest if anyone is bored and wants to see them sometime. Digital cameras = amazing.
If you're in town, I have a real, live, 100% Japanese roommate who might interest you. Surprisingly, she is about 5'10", so if "little" is an honest qualifier I don't know if it's meant to be. ;)
But thanks, I cannot WAIT to get over there, see Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagasaki...and of course, eat as much as possible!
the current house of jake hosen/joe catron/derek bishop (derek you may know from plays-- he was the lead in i think shakespeare in the dark's-- unless it was the classics club's-- this year). anyway their house seems to tend to have a small flux of people coming and going, and boasts sun rooms and couches and things which may be available for a few months rather than a year. at the moment jordan (male) and dani (female) are the only people i know of living in this 4 bedroom house next year, but i could be wrong/behind. you may know none of the above names; feel free to ask me about it later if you're interested. the house is next to the green 7-11 on jamestown road. japan-- enjoy! be safe.
