When asked what a book is about, it's usually a summary of what I'm reading. When asked if I enjoy it, it's probably "yes, very much," or "nah, it's kinda slow," or something along that line. When asked what I think about it.... It's usually the same response as the last question.
There are people you speak to about books that have delved in deeper to find the hidden meaning and the writer's commentary on the state of the world, etc. I just read the book and enjoy (or try to make it through). It's a matter of "I really liked it" or "It was okay" for me.
I'm currently reading "How to Be an American Housewife" by Margaret Dilloway and I am really enjoying it. It spans 4 generations but mostly revolves around the mother's story (she's from WWII time Japan, married a GI, moved to America, had a family). The rest revolves around her 1/2 Irish-American 1/2 Japanese daughter (I have a friend w/ that mix. She's VERY pretty.) and this daughter's daughter.
It's a good book, and I can relate to some of it. But analysis?? Book club discussions?? I haven't really had to read like smart people.... ENTERTAINMENT, bring it on!!
