I bought a sectional for my first apartment, and I ended up really disappointed in it. But then, that was 27 years ago. Have they solved the problem of sectional pieces wanting to drift apart from each other every time someone sits down or stands up?
Hmmm hard to say. Nothing that can't be solved with judicious placement of rugs, I would think. I had no problem on the sales floor, but that was carpeted. If nothing else, I will tip them over and install Velcro tape to the underside so I can stick them together when I want them together, and take the velcro off when I don't.
Of course, they may have solved that problem with the velour on the upholstery, or by locking the roller feet underneath.
One of the tests we did was to lie across the join and see what would happen. It held pretty well... enough I could probably sleep on it.
Oh, yeah I forgot to mention...The sectional has four sections, three of which are like fainting couches, and one GIANT ottoman. Luckily we should have enough room to accommodate it. When assembled together, it mostly forms a square. However, the pieces are cut with curves, so the drifting apart is being partially combated by the FRICTION of the microfiber/velour fabric on the upholstery along the longer shared side. The arcs would have a greater surface area than a square cut sectional would.
But, like I said before. Judicious use of Velcro would keep the sliding at bay if necessary.
Here is a link, although the pictures don't really do it justice.
We close on the 6th. Probably that weekend, if not sooner to get started. May have whoever wants to peek over on the 6th after work. (no, I did not take the day off, although I may want to in order to let my scribbling hand rest.)
I don't really recommend wire shelves unless you really aren't handy enough to install shelving yourself. They have quite a few issues. If you don't have the time to install decent handmade shelves then I'd try looking at some of the cheapo pressed wood pre-fabricated shelves you can buy.
Just a few appliances eh? From what I see that's pretty much everything.
Congrats on the house and good luck with the clean-up and move-in!

Oh sorry, I forgot to add the Internet standard sarcasm tab.
Wait, did I forget it again?
Since the shelving is designed to hold tubs, I am not TOO worried about the wires. However, I think I am just handy enough to design, install and screw together a series of shelves for downstairs. Just.
