Moving.... ?

first of all, you're moving to northern cali.. they really do have seasons there so take that into consideration. You may not need your parka.. but you will need winter clothing (heck... I wear sweaters in the winter down here.. mind you I need no coat when I have a sweater on, but I still wear them ( ... )

I have to agree with Mere's LABEL LABEL LABEL. It makes life so much easier if you clearly label your boxes. Personally, I label my boxes and make a list of what's in each box. The list I put in a backpack or overnight bag so I always know where it is. Another idea would be to take pictures of everything in a box so you know what's in it. I've done that before too and it works pretty well, but I prefer the list method.
Start packing the things you don't need right now, but will definitely need to teach or to live in Cali. I've moved several times so if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask me too. Honestly, each person is different in what they pack when and how they pack it. You'll figure out what you can live without for now and what you can't. It'll all work out. :-)

try putting stuff in groups like kitchen, bedroom, bathroom. if you don't have it now, wait til later to buy it. wait til later for stuff like cleaning supplies. it may be a good idea to have a roll of TP. there wasn't any in my apartment down in TX.
