We were on a boat!

Heh. Look at this, i can still use ljs.

So we went on a boat a couple of weeks ago...

We left for Miami on Thursday afternoon with KAZ and met Mad Joe there. We wandered around a bit to the dock area and had some drinks and watched a Brazillian band play.

Friday morning we met up with Atari and Allison and had lunch at a Cuban place. The mojitos were delicious, but the cuban sandwiches were no Kool Korners... Then we went and got on our boat, the Norwegian Sky. We wandered around the boat for a while and played all the sports available, including shuffleboard. Ah, shuffleboard... We met up with Theresa and Mason as well and we had some food at the welcome aboard BBQ. Because fire on a boat is always a good idea... Next we visited the Casino to get free rum punches. They didn't even make us listen to a speech... Then we grouped together and went to the Martini bar for 2 for 1 martinis. They were super tasty. Our bartender Aan was the man. He made us many colorful and flavorful drinks, and at 5USD each (after the 2 for 1), they weren't even crazy expensive. Next stop was the free liquor tasting at the duty free shop, where we tried lots of tiny sips of liquor from the off duty dominatrix. Then we went to dinner at one of the free dining rooms. I don't really remember what i had. I think it was pretty good though... We ended the night going to Karaoke. KAZ even sang.

Saturday morning, the boat docked in Nassau and after some breakfast we all hopped off the boat and went ashore. After we got through, the initial press of pushy cabs and such, it was pretty calm. We looked in some liquor stores for cheap liquor and wander through the straw market, but it was pretty much all junk... We did run across the Pirates of Nassau Museum. The pirate at the door sold it pretty well and it was only 12USD, so we took the tour. It was pretty interesting and we learned all kinds of piratical things. Arr... When we were done in there, we wandered down the coast in search of a seafood market. We never exactly found it, but we did find a tasty place for lunch. We had like a zillion conch fritters and more food we didn't really need at the Twin Brothers restaurant. It was pretty good, the drink prices were a lie, though... After lunch, k and i split off and we tried to find a geocache, but the stupid GPS basically stopped working.. We met a peacock and didn't go into a zoo. After a bit more wandering, we caught a bus and join everyone else at Senor Frogs. It was frat-tacular... We all had a round of B-52s for Atari's mom and then headed back to the boat. That night we had yet more cheap martinis and then went to dinner at the nice extra cost Italian restaurant. It was quite delicious. I had some sort of steak-ish thing, and i think we had all the desserts. Then we did more karaoke and i even sang an ill advised song. It's best not discussed. Then we went to the big party of the night for a few minutes and then k, Theresa and Mason abused room service at 1AM.

Sunday morning, the boat stopped near Great Stirrup Cay, which appears to be the cruise lines private island. We all hopped on a little boat ("tender") and it boated us to the island. It was pretty there and we all gathered up some beach chairs and then went in the water. Surprise! It was full up with jellyfishes. Apparently, they weren't the stingy kind though. We each eventually picked one up, by the non-tentacle side, of course. After we got bored in the water, we laid in a hammock for a while and then got some lunch. As we were walking back with our food, though, we saw the big gray clouds rushing towards us, so we lined up with our food to get back on the tender. I sat my lunch on the ground so i could arrange my backpack to protect my camera and books and someone kicked sand all over it. Assneck... As we were nearing the boat, it was starting to rain kind of hard. They said if we wanted on this boat, we would have to ride on the uncovered top. Since we were going to get wet anyway, we went on up. They closed the door to the boat and made like we were going to leave, but then just sat there... With us all stuck on top of the boat in driving rain. Thanks, guys... Eventually, it turned back into regular rain and we went back to the main boat and got some hot shower action. We went to the art auction later in the day, which was hella boring, and eventually we had dinner at the fancy extra cost French restaurant. We had escargot for the first time for all of us. They were pretty good, but they mostly tasted like butter/cheese and we didn't have to rassle them out of their shells or anything. I had a big tasty chunk of beef. Mm... Beef... We actually managed to not get all the desserts this time, but i guess that's because there were only three of us... Then we hit karaoke yet again and Atari rick-rolled us.

Monday, we got back to Miami and rented a car to wander around since our flight wasn't for a few hours yet... We drove around South Beach with KAZ and had lunch at a wings place, and then went swimming at a beach in the northern area. We noticed a big dark spot in the water and thought it was seaweed or something, but it turned out to be many thousands of tiny fish! It was really neat, you could walk through them and they would all make a path for you. Unless they got spooked, then they would smack into you our hop out of the water. Sometimes, a few hundred of them would get beached and the seagulls would eat them unless someone came along and tossed them back in the water. We also saw some wild iguanas and parrots. Neat. Eventually, we went back to the airport and yadda, yadda...
