If someone hasn't changed in his entire adult life so far, there's very little chance he's going to ever do so.

If I had somewhere to go, I'd go.

But I want to keep the friends I made through him.

I want to stay in Canada, a country I have fallen in love with and have called home since 2008.

This is going to sound awful, but I think there is no harm in married women engaging in forward planning with regard to their future as a possibly unmarried person at some point. It could happen to any one of us at any time. And you are entitled to the future *you* want, not having to accept a lesser sort of a future because of your husband. How long until you can apply for citizenship?

i have to say... being married sucks! i was once in a situation like yours. in the end, we split up & i still managed to obtain citizenship. hopefully things will work out for you!
