I have always had a summer reading list, since elementary school days. But I haven't had the time to really read anything because of school. Give me some books I should read please. Keep in mind that I'm not the biggest fan of women writers except Joyce carol oates, margaret atawood and anne rice (yes, i went through that phase ( Read more... )

My book reccomendation is All the Rage by Ian McLagan. It's delightful.

I love Syd so much. I have that double LP, too. It is very sad to see pics of him nowadays. Poor guy.

I remember you talking about that book. I definately need to read it!

It almost makes me cry imagining him in Cambridge living like a normal person wearing bermuda shorts and not playing his guitar.

The Thiefs Journal is such a wonderful read.
I'm assuming you've read Our Lady of the Flowers????

Yeah, I read a lot of Wilde actually in high school. Have you seen the importance of being earnest acted out ?

cool, "Dorian Gray" is my second favorite book ever, and i can't wait to get the original version. i've seen the 195? movie version of "Earnest", which was quite good.

Syd Barrett is not fat anymore (that was because of his medication). As for his aged appearance, he doesn't look worse than any of the other members of the Floyd. Have you seen any of them lately? They're all showing their age now. People always pick on Syd. Poor Syd. I do kind of wish he would get himself together, though.

No I haven't seen any more recent pictures of him. I'm sure they are all showing their age by now. I wish he would get himself together too. I love Syd so much!

Oops. Somehow I didn't mean to sound quite so touchy there. Syd is my most favorite musician of all time (seriously). I used to think the same thing (about him looking bad) until one day I found a picture onlne of David Gilmore pushing a baby carriage that was taken in the early 90's and thought, "He could really stand to lose some weight too." Now I think Syd looks "just okay" for his age. Especially now that he's lost some weight. See this pic taken 3 years ago:

Of course, he'd look much better if he would look up, smile and be animated for the camera, but you know whomever took the photo was being sneaky and caught him off guard. The rest of those old geezers get fair warning before their publicity shots are taken.
