download link I like to think I've come a long way since I started way back when but I know I still have a ways to go. Would you believe that the first icon I ever made was a Daredevil (lol) icon for a friend - animated no less! We'd just seen the hilariously bad movie and I made it for her as a joke. She laughed so hard when she saw it (probably because the icon was as bad as the movie was) and promptly set it as her default. She had it her userpics for over a year before she took it down even though it was awful! But over time other LJ friends asked me to make things for them. So I did and down the slippery slope I went. Then I fell in love with making textures, slid even further and here I am!
I has been said by a few people that what I make isn't exactly "on trend" in terms of style and subjects. But I figure if I made things purely to please others and not myself there would be no joy for me in that. I guess in my crotchety old age (in LJ terms at any rate) I've swung back around to simple clean crops with a bit of colouring, which I guess makes me old-fashioned. I don't care really; I like what I like :) Those amazing complex icons are great - just not for me!
I've also been told (mostly in jest) that I am somewhat of a hypocrite since I love making textures but fail pretty hard at using them. I suppose to some degree that is true. Not sure if it makes me phoney as such - I just love making textures. Gators gonna gait or something like that, right? Anyway, it's like crack hugely relaxing and (mostly!) enjoyable for me so even if no one left me lovely comments (and the ones I do get are always lovely :) ) I'd still keep on keeping on because I just love making them.
I feel like I could pretty much just make this entire collection about textures since I have so many. I've got over 4500 individual icon textures and 270 odd larger textures (holy poo flinging monkeys, Batman!) on my DA account and that doesn't include some of my older (read: crap!) stuff that I've mothballed. But I will keep it to a minimum in my batch (30%)!
If you have any questions you'd like to ask - shoot and I'll try to answer as best I can. Long post is long, sorry!
