More Vicky Plot!

Aug 12, 2009 00:04

Okay, should have done this when I made the post OH WELL I AM DISORGANIZED ON OCCASION. So.

Poor Vicky with your plot explosions. One minor volley some of you may have noticed in all of this is: Death has shown up.

Yes, the anthropomorphic personification of death itself is onboard. Along with a skeletal rat, a horse, and a raven (all of which people might only see occasionally).

So, tl;dr explanation! (Under the cut)

Basically what happened is this: Chi killing the mouse brought the Death of Rats, who heard Susan's voice on Chi's post and figured out she was here. Death, having been very busy lately with matters of mortality, deciding now would be the perfect time to see what his granddaughter is doing on a warship--plus it's been nearly a year since they all saved the Hogfather.

Now, only certain people will be able to see Death for what he is (a seven-foot-tall skeleton in a robe, for reference). This includes: magic users, people with a sensitivity to magic, anyone of particularly mythic origins or circumstances, and von Karma. Some open-minded people who have a sensitivity to death instead of magic and/or have had near-death experiences may be able to see him. And cats. Ask away!

The Death of Rats can be seen by most everyone, though quite a few more sensible people (those who don't even believe in/like magic) will have trouble seeing it properly.

Binky is visible to anyone who believes you can get a horse on an airship without having taken it on at port. So, yeah.

Quoth the Raven (given his ability to talk and omg I do not want to NPC too many characters in one go) will be scarce, found most often with the Death of Rats, looking for anything round and vaguely eyeballish and...visible to anyone.

Image refs:
- Death himself (he likes kittens)
- Death of Rats (and all rodents, technically--cute, no?)

If you have any questions (like, would so and so a character be able to see Death), feel free to ask away!

I'll try and not tl;dr too much with the answer
