Stepping into a dark alleyway, she was certain this was where he had gone. She had chased him here. He hadn't been very fast and besides, Oichi was good at chasing.
In the darkness, she could just make out a shoulder, not very well hidden in a corner behind some boxes.
Oh, silly Mister Dirty, he hadn't hidden properly. Really, this wasn't going to be fun if he didn't try harder.
Hands materialized and reached towards the man, a mugger, shaking and trying not to be found.
"Mister Dirty isn't very good at hide-and-seek. If he wants to play he has to pick a better hiding place. Ichi thought Mr. Dirty wanted to play? Wasn't that what he said? That he would play with Ichi?"
Oichi tilted her head to look down at the mugger whimpering and scrabbling for purchase on the floor as a pair of shadow-like hands dragged him from his hiding place.
"We can only play for a bit, Mister Dirty. You see, Ichi still has to find an airship..."
Oichi saw a sudden flash of blue light at the corner of her eye. She turned away from the man on the ground who hadn't seen a thing, the hands fading away, to look at the bright blue butterfly hovering just a few inches from her face.
"So pretty. Do you want to play too, Miss Butterfly?"
She extended her hand to touch it, and smiled dreamily as she caressed, what to anyone else would have looked like a whole lot of air, with a decided lack of butterfly-shaped things.
Suddenly, she started, "Wait, don't go..."
Abandoning the man in the alley, Oichi ran, following something only she could see. Nothing mattered but that bright spark, that light.
She didn't know how long she had run. She stumbled a few times, her breathing erratic, not used to physical exertion and nearly fell off something that looked like a long bit of floor over a whole lot of nothing. Then all there was, was a long hallway.
"Oof!"
Oichi smacked face-first into a wall, which the hallucinatory butterfly had been able to easily pass through. She reached up a hand to rub her forehead, "Ichi's forehead got flattened."
She looked around, "Hmm...where did Miss Butterfly go?"
