On route to the infirmary? unsoundmind March 1 2011, 05:48:46 UTC
Given that Hojo generally kept himself to himself and didn't go looking for the company of officers, he hadn't had much contact with Deanna Troi. He'd kept it to a minimum, really, though he couldn't say that it was deliberate on his part. He just tended to flit between his quarters and the infirmary, with infrequent stops between to obtain necessary things, like food, and a lifestyle of that nature didn't really give itself to meeting new people.

Usually.

Having finished terrorizing the poor helpless staff of inspecting the main records room, Deanna was moving on to the next target of her rounds.

She did not rush or walk quickly- Deanna Troi did nothing in a hurry. She strode through the halls leisurely, as if she owned them. Her head was held high, her shoulders back.

Coming close to her next target, she smiled. Well here was a new face. How lovely. "Good morning, doctor."

Professor Hojo regarded the woman with a flat, bland look that, due to the crow's feet at the corners of his eyes and the lines on his forehead born of thirty years of near-constant scowling, looked as though it was bordering on contempt. It was nothing personal -- he always looked like that.

"Is it?" He replied, looking around himself at the corridor.

Well, it didn't look particularly good to him.

Well that was a bit refreshing. So far on this ship she'd only encountered sycophantic military people and too-eager-to-please crewmembers who seemed content to spend half the day talking about nothing. Here, then, was a man after her own heart- direct and to the point. Two could play at that game. Crossing her arms, Deanna smirked at him.

"Enough of the mindless exchanging of pleasantries, then. I failed to receive your report on the status of yourself and the infirmary during the recent monster attacks. This needs to be rectified."

Overall, the trip back to Garrettstown had been very good to Roxas. He got to visit friends and family, and although he experienced crushing trauma due his beautiful airboard getting destroyed, that was mended once he had bullied the culprit into getting him a new one.

Since he was in a good mood, Roxas decided it was time to get some more updated maps. He knew a mapmaker in town, so he even got a small discount! With a roll of them tucked under his arm, he walked towards the navigation room. Along the way, he accidentally brushed by Deanna.

"Oops, sorry," he said, stopping.

Halting in her own progress, she leveled an icy glare at the young man who had nearly collided with her. Sensing emotions of ebullience and happiness, her face softened just a tad.

With a smirk, she regarded him carefully, though there was no threat in her eyes for now. "Do try to have a bit more care. Someone might think you were up to something."

Oh man, it was this lady. Roxas had seen her a couple times around, but always stayed clear out of her way.

"Me? I couldn't be up to something if I tried," he said. It was of course, a lie. While not nearly as bad as some other guys his age, Roxas had definitely been up to his fair share in mischief before. "But yeah, I'll be more careful."

Smirking, she lowered her voice to a level that could almost be described as kind or gentle. "You know, that is the first thing that guilty people say." Her eyes looked murderous.

She laughed, maybe joking, or maybe not, but she smiled again. "I'm Deanna. What is your name?"

With the whole monster fiasco, Huang Rong was once again left with nothing to do.

Well, nothing interesting, anyway.

She placed another sheet of paper on the 'completed' pile with a short huff. If she had known how boring a Records Keeper's job was, she would have chosen something else.

Arriving at the next little stop on her rounds, Deanna knocked at the door. Sharply. Waiting for just a moment, she opened the door.

Noticing the one rather bored looking young woman at the desk, she nodded politely. "Am I interrupting?" Frankly, Deanna didn't much care if she was or not, but politeness was ingrained in her -to a certain point, anyway.

"Would it matter if I said, 'yes'?" Because while politeness might have been ingrained into Deanna to a certain point, to Hunag Rong it was generally a thing that other people did. She wasn't actually annoyed though, she was just being difficult.

She smiled. It wasn't a particularly nice one, but Deanna's manners only went so far. Particularly when her work was concerned. "Not particularly, no."
