It was him and Utena in Zangetsu--the rest had been able to find other transportation back to the ship. Ichigo had tied up the injury in his left shoulder as best he could with a bandage from the box of first-aid stuff he'd kept in the back of his plane since the Gearship races, but hadn't tried to treat it any further. They had no time to lose. Both because of pain and a sense of urgency, he wasn't talking much as he flew them over the mountainside, back toward the Convoy.

"What the--?!"

His concentration was broken as what sounded like a bullet connected with a wing. A second later, another hit the body of the plane. "Someone's shooting at us!" he exclaimed, looking around to see if there were other aircraft in the sky that might be trying to take them down.

But something wasn't right about that. Usually, the guns on planes were far more powerful than the shots that had hit them. More than one hit usually meant you went down. But this was...

Utena knew just as well as Ichigo that shots meant for planes were more powerful than this. So, who on Reial was shooting at them, and why?! While Ichigo scanned the sky, her eyes searched the ground, until she saw a lone figure amongst the ruins of Grita's castle. He stood on the pile of rubble, seemingly without a care in the world, and waved his gun around like a madman.

"There," she said, "near the castle - or what's left of it! Do you see him?"

"Sure do," Ichigo said, spotting the figure without too much trouble. "What the hell does he think he's doing? He's got no hope of taking Zangetsu down." He stared, banking the plane in a hard turn to get another look at this guy.

Was he...waving?

"It looks like he's saying something," Ichigo mused. "What do you think he wants?"

"No clue," she said, "but I don't think he's trying to shoot us down - I think he wants our attention!"
