The only one of these I've read is The Man Who Was Thursday, years ago when I was in something of a Chesterton phase. Weird's a good word for it. As I recall I found it quite exciting while I was in the midst of it, but in the end nothing was resolved so I felt let down.

Yes, the ending was an anti-climax. And I'd guessed the main mystery partway through.
