Summary: After spending years hiding in the human world, Yifan never expects another dragon to land in his backyard.
The heat licks pleasantly over Yifan's skin, like an old lover coming home to take him under once more. The flames crackle beneath steel, turning silver to orange as Yifan folds it again, hammering it into the shape of a blade before cooling it in water. Steam hisses and rises into the air to disappear and the process begins again. Ingrained. Habitual. Calming.
Yifan is locked in a room of his own design, leaving little in the way of openings save the circular opening in the roof so he doesn't suffocate on the smoke. He doesn't want to be disturbed, and he most certainly doesn't want to be seen. Being seen would give away his secret.
Beneath the human visage that he holds, and behind the seemingly average trade of blacksmithing, Yifan hides his true nature. The soul of a dragon lurks in his breast, his body turned to that of a man without changing who he really is at heart. Yifan wears the tall image of a human man, and has adapted to a new way of life to avoid the death sentence that comes to his species for simply existing.
The magic that he's molded to his purpose, however, has its limits. There is a fine line of scales that begin at the top of his spine and travel downward to its base. They're a brilliant gold and sensitive to the touch. But he prefers keeping his shirt off, and this demands the need for secrecy.
Another reason for keeping out of sight is his use of dragon fire. When he'd first picked up the blacksmith trade, he'd been appalled at the inferior quality of weaponry and armor made with regular fire. Now that he's no longer an apprentice and has a shop of his own, Yifan only uses his own fire, spit from his mouth and into the forges, to create his masterpieces. And they are all masterpieces.
He's gotten quite popular with the nobility. They flock to him in waves, hoping to bribe him into fashioning a new set of armor for them to ride into battle or to wear during the jousting games. Yifan cares little for their desires, but he does take their gold; he needs to survive after all. Whatever he doesn't spend on food and supplies, he invests in rare gems that are kept safe in a cellar that only he can open.
There's only one human who knows Yifan's true identity and Yifan trusts him implicitly. Chanyeol knows who Yifan is, knows that Yifan is a hulking dragon with scales the color of gold and fire that could burn the entire village to the ground. Chanyeol also sometimes treats Yifan like a beloved pet, offering him treats for getting his work done before deadline. Chanyeol is very lucky that Yifan finds it endearing.
Chanyeol is the one who does the wheeling and dealing; he's the face that people see when they want to purchase Yifan's services, and Yifan is left alone to his work. It's satisfying work too and Yifan wouldn't have it otherwise. He's too selfish for that, too ornery and arrogant - or at least that's what Chanyeol says. Yifan hadn't argued. He didn't want to scare away the only human whose company he'd come to enjoy.
Yifan wipes at the sweat on his brow, double checking the fire to ensure it's still burning as hot as he needs. Dragon fire isn't as malleable as human created fire. It has a personality of its own, burning brighter and hotter than any other fire. The flames Yifan fans are tipped in blue, flaring white when they climb high enough, and they're just perfect for what he needs.
The sword he's currently working on would take longer to fold and coax into the right shape if Yifan didn't have the strength to do it by hand instead of with a hammer. His fingers smooth over heated metal too hot for a human to touch. It does nothing to Yifan's skin and he coaxes the steel into the desired form, smoothing over the surface until he's satisfied. Then it goes back in the flames and he hammers it out, leaving behind the evidence that it was crafted by human means. It’s a necessary form of self-preservation.
There are other orders to be started on, but Yifan finds himself less concerned with them and he douses the fire before he leaves at the end of his day. The finished sword hangs on the rack - ready to be given to Chanyeol later for delivery. There are multiple locks on the one door and he unlatches each of them, before locking them all again when he leaves.
The small home that Yifan has fashioned for himself just outside of a small village is sparsely furnished, but he doesn't see the need for tables and chairs when the only person he ever invites inside is Chanyeol. And Chanyeol's never complained about sitting on the floor although he sometimes takes over Yifan's soft bed when he's had a little wine.
It's a quiet life. Solitary. Yifan doesn't mind so much. When he was living in his true form, lumbering around as a mighty dragon, he had been alone too. The difference had been the constant danger lurking over his head. Dragons all learned from a young age to never gather for long periods of time, because more than one dragon in an area attracts trophy hunters.
Now he gets to enjoy his simple life without threat and with a purpose. Being so highly demanded was intimidating at first, but after rising to the challenge, Yifan has carved out a place for himself in this world. That isn't to say he doesn't miss his life from before - there's something to be said about roaming the wilds and flying above the clouds in complete freedom.
Sometimes, on particularly beautiful days like this, Yifan mourns not being able to unfurl his wings and take off. He misses soaring through the sky with nothing but the wind as his guide. Dragons have always been the masters of the open sky, but man has seen fit to overrun that too, leaving them with little option than to hide.
Yifan grabs a fresh change of clothing, sliding a loose shirt on over his head with a grimace, and makes his way out the back door. There's a river in the woods that cuts behind his home and he's been known to bathe in it on occasion, if only to reconnect with nature. Staying cooped up for too long isn't good for his mental health.
It's not much, but it keeps him going.
With Chanyeol's arrival, noise always invites itself into Yifan's home. It's not unwelcome, just new. There’s no inside or outside voice, only Chanyeol’s deep booming that heralds his entrance. He has a key of his own yet still knocks to warn Yifan that he’s coming in. His boots are caked with mud and he knocks them against the doorframe, frowning when none of it comes off. Yifan watches as Chanyeol slips off his boots and leaves them outside.
“I come bearing gifts,” Chanyeol greets, thumb pointing over his shoulder to the cart outside.
Yifan eyes his friend’s socked feet as he pads further inside. “Gifts that I have to retrieve myself,” he grumbles.
Chanyeol pauses and drags his eyes over Yifan’s taller form. “But you’re so strong.”
The cart is laden with fruits and vegetables, cured meats and honey mead from the tavern that only Chanyeol ever seems to frequent. Yifan hefts the sacks easily, leaving the cart empty for Yifan to reload with the armor and weapon commissions that he’s finished before Chanyeol leaves.
Yifan’s pantry is looking sparse, something that Chanyeol comments on as he bites into a fresh peach. He offers it to Yifan who shakes his head as he unpacks the sacks for Chanyeol to take back with him.
“You know,” Chanyeol begins, wiping peach juice off his chin with his sleeve, “there are rumors of a dragon in the area.”
Yifan freezes, a shudder of fear quaking down the scales on his spine.
“It’s only rumor,” Chanyeol assures him, clapping a hand on Yifan’s shoulder. “You know how trophy hunters like to run their mouths off. There’s probably nothing to it.”
Yifan isn’t so sure and he swallows, pushing down the tremor in his hand. If he’s been discovered, he needs to get out while he still has a head start.
“Besides,” Chanyeol adds with a flourish of his hand, a droplet of peach juice falling to Yifan’s clean floor, “they say its scales are black as pitch and it’s smaller than an alpha. They’re saying it’s an omega. So it’s definitely not you.”
It does ease the tension and fear in Yifan, but not entirely. He doesn’t want any of his species hunted for sport. And if it’s an omega, Yifan’s very instincts as an alpha dragon are to protect it. Omegas are scarce, having been the first hunted to the brink of extinction to keep the dragons from breeding. Hearing of one brings a flare of hope to Yifan even if he knows it’s a futile hope.
If there is, indeed, an omega in the area, its days are already numbered.
No matter how valiantly Chanyeol tries, he can’t pull Yifan out of his foul mood. Chanyeol leaves Yifan long after the moon has risen, the cart laden with completed work orders. He looks like he wants to say something to cheer Yifan up, but thinks better of it and leaves quietly.
Yifan watches him go, then he watches the sky. If there really is an omega out there, he hopes it keeps safe tonight.
It’s not uncommon for the children in the village to intrude on Yifan’s property. They never do any harm; they enjoy the open space, filling it with their laughter and games and Yifan sometimes watches from his window. They have such carefree lives - their faces happy and alive as they weave through the wildflowers Yifan refuses to trim, sometimes even plucking a few.
But today isn’t the sort of day for frolicking through the flowers. It’s overcast, dark clouds looming overhead. It’s been drizzling all morning, letting up near noon, but now the thunder echoes through the air as lightning slices across the sky. It’s beautiful and Yifan sits outside to admire it. He can’t work when it’s raining; the water would put out his fire, so he has the day for himself.
The world is shadowed in gray, subdued under the weight of the weather and Yifan finds peace in it. The tranquility seeps into him, molding around sinew and bone, calming the beast within. His eyes linger on the trees in the distance, listening as the rainwater from earlier drips from the canopy and onto the forest floor.
Then he hears something loud that shakes the trees further in the woods. At first Yifan thinks it’s lightning, but there had been no strike and the noise is more animal than the clap of thunder. Yifan is on his feet in moments, curiosity pulling him forward. He pauses when he sees the treetops shaking violently, some bending to the side and snapping loud enough for Yifan to hear, even from this far away.
Yifan can’t make himself move, watching with widening eyes as whatever it is that’s crashing through the trees comes closer. Birds take flight, squawking indignantly at being disturbed, and a low rumble rolls through the air. It pricks at Yifan’s skin; there’s something so familiar about it that he’s compelled to wait for it. He needs to know what this is.
At first it appears to be a shadow, hulking and dark as it pushes through the trees, but Yifan can see the faintest glimmer of light flashing off the surface. It’s alive and it’s moving and it’s . . . a dragon.
The omega.
Yifan can smell it now. It’s potent, nearly clogging the air as the body of the dragon finally breaks through the trees and lumbers nearer to Yifan. It burns through Yifan now, his senses on high alert and the alpha in him baring its teeth, growling possessively because this isn’t just an omega that’s landed in his backyard. It’s an omega in heat.
Yifan wants to burst out of his skin and present himself to the omega, but his sense of self-preservation kicks in just in time. They aren’t in the village proper, but the village is within view and if Yifan wants to keep his cover, he needs to contain his alpha instincts. And with any luck, he can ensure no one comes hunting for the omega.
The dragon is lying on its side, claws embedded in the loose dirt as it breathes heavily. It’s probably been flying for a while, trying to find safety because an omega is most vulnerable during its heat. Yifan approaches cautiously; the omega’s eyes are semi-focused, but they follow Yifan until he’s near enough to reach out and touch.
This particular omega is male and only in the beginning stages of his heat. Yifan can smell it. He can also smell that he’s ventured down from the north. The scent of pine sap is still stuck to his scales. Yifan wonders what could have brought it into human territory when the north has always been safer.
Yifan presses a palm to the dragon’s snout, letting it breathe him in. He lets out a soft rumble in response, pushing against Yifan’s touch, nuzzling as best he can against Yifan’s dwarfed hand.
“It’s not safe for you,” Yifan begins, letting his fingers trail over black scales affectionately. It’s been so long since he’s seen another of his kind and this dragon is a true beauty. “The hunters have already heard of an omega in the area and they will be searching for you.”
The dragon whimpers, eyes sliding shut and Yifan smells him, smells the heat that’s taking over his body. Yifan isn’t immune to it. His blood pumps faster through his veins, burning hot with the urge to take and protect and keep, but he would never without knowing it was wanted.
“You must fly from here,” Yifan urges, even if his instincts fight against this reasoning. The alpha in Yifan wants nothing more than for this healthy, gorgeous dragon to remain here where Yifan can take care of him.
The dragon surprises Yifan when it shudders, pulling itself off the ground. He takes several steps back to avoid being knocked around, worried for a moment that the dragon is going to loose a roar that will bring the entire population of the village out. The clouds finally burst, rain falling to soak everything on the ground within seconds.
The dragon ripples, the ambient magic around its body coming off in visible waves as he curls in on himself. Yifan has been through the process of shrinking himself into the form of a human, but he’s never witnessed it happen to another dragon. He stands transfixed as the scales smoothen and lighten. His limbs shrink and reshape themselves, a soft noise of pain escaping as he twists and pops into his new body.
Yifan peers through the rain at a man standing in the place of a dragon, steam rising from his skin from the heat still burning through him. The scent is muddled and Yifan rushes forward to catch him before he collapses. He hefts the man into his arms, holding him close to his chest before hurrying him inside his home.
Yifan may not own many possessions, but he does have a sizable collection of blankets. He lays the man on his bed, unfolding the blankets from the foot to cover him so he doesn’t get sick. The omega may be hot, but in his weakened state, he could fall ill easily.
Yifan’s heart is racing and his hands won’t stop trembling as he rushes around his home, searching for everything he needs to take care of the omega. He glances outside, wincing at the damage done to his backyard. It’s not that he cares much about the aesthetics, but it will make it obvious to anyone passing through here that a large creature has torn it up. He’s going to need to fix that soon so it doesn’t draw the attention of the hunters - if they haven’t already figured out where he is.
He has a towel in one hand and a jug of water in the other when he walks back into his small bedroom. The omega is sitting up, the blanket fallen around his waist as he peers around. Yifan’s arrival draws his attention and Yifan swallows at the intensity in the man’s eyes. His dark hair is wet, the strands clumped together and dripping down unmarred skin. There’s a flush to his cheeks and he swipes his tongue over pink lips.
Yifan gets close enough to set the jug on the small table beside the bed. The man doesn’t take his eyes off him, even as Yifan cautiously reaches out to towel his hair dry.
“I’m Yifan. What’s your name?” Yifan asks softly, knowing that this dragon is probably still in mild shock from the magic it took to change forms. Not all dragons can manage such a feat, let alone do it while in the midst of their heat.
“Jongin,” comes the quiet reply.
Yifan sees a pair of dark eyes fixed on him and he drops his hands, the towel left to rest on Jongin’s shoulders. Jongin’s scent is seeping into him, curling into his skull to sear itself into his senses. Yifan’s mouth waters and he lets out a low growl before he realizes what he’s doing.
He stands to leave, wanting to clear his head, but Jongin reaches out, grabbing him by the wrist.
“Please,” Jongin says. “Please.”
“You will be safe here,” Yifan whispers. “I will protect you as long as you need.”
“I need an alpha,” Jongin responds.
The very words are seductive, pulling Yifan under. He tempts himself by turning his head to look at Jongin. There’s no cloudiness in his eyes, no hesitation or doubt. If Jongin were any further along in his heat, Yifan may not believe him, but he’s not so far gone yet that he's given in to his primal instincts.
“You do not know me.”
Jongin licks his lips, swallowing before answering. “Not yet.” He pushes the blankets from his legs and stands, nearly losing his balance. Yifan is quick to react, catching Jongin before he can drop. He has a palm resting on Jongin’s lower back, thumb brushing over the line of scales that run down his spine. Jongin shudders in his hold, eyes slipping closed as he lets out a soft moan.
“There is nothing for me to go back to,” Jongin explains, voice cracking as the heat begins to take him over. “I need an alpha who will take care of me.”
Jongin pushes his nose to Yifan’s neck, breathing in deep. Yifan’s hold on him tightens, his resolve crumbling as Jongin nuzzles against him, his warm breath puffing against Yifan’s skin.
“Alpha,” Jongin croons, lips brushing over Yifan’s skin to set his blood boiling. Jongin’s palm pushes hot on Yifan’s stomach, warm even through the fabric of Yifan’s shirt. “Do you want me to stop?”
The two stand there for minutes; Jongin is shaking, panting, sweating with the effort of staying upright and not giving in to the heat that’s bound to be clawing at him from the inside. It’s not that Yifan doesn't want him. He’d be a fool not to. Jongin is a fine dragon, a prize to be sure, but he’s worried that they’ll be discovered and he won’t be able to protect him.
Jongin lets out a whimper of discomfort, gasping as Yifan instinctively digs his fingers into the skin of his back when Jongin’s scent strengthens. Jongin doesn’t put up a fight when Yifan pulls his wrist free of his hold. He looks uncertain, blinking up at Yifan with his teeth biting into the swell of his lower lip, waiting for Yifan to either accept or reject him.
Yifan carefully slides his fingers through the wet strands of Jongin’s hair, pushing them out of his face. His thumb caresses over Jongin’s cheek and Jongin nudges into it, a sigh spilling from his lips.
Protect. Keep. Want.
Jongin is pliant, molding deliciously along Yifan’s body with a soft whine as Yifan dips low and licks along his mouth. Yifan lets out a groan; Jongin tastes as amazing as he smells and Yifan wants it all. Jongin fits in Yifan’s hold like he was meant to be there, his skin heating under his touch as Jongin shivers, pushing closer. Yifan is gentle when he tips Jongin’s head back, listening to the pleased rumble Jongin releases as Yifan mouths at his neck.
Yifan presses his teeth to the sensitive skin - not enough to break through, but enough to leave a mark that will last for several days at least. It’s an acceptance, Yifan letting Jongin know that he’ll take care of him through his heat, and that Jongin has nothing to fear from him.
Jongin slumps in Yifan’s arms, losing energy as his heat courses through him. He whines softly, body acting on its own as Yifan lifts Jongin back onto the bed, laying him down. His skin is shining with rain water and sweat, his thighs falling open to reveal himself to his alpha. The heady scent of Jongin’s arousal is thick, addicting, and Yifan growls possessively as he finally lets the alpha inside him take control.
His hands splay along the insides of Jongin’s thighs, holding them open as Yifan drinks in the sight. Jongin squirms, his breathing loud in the room. The skin beneath Yifan’s fingertips is slick and he licks the taste from his fingers as Jongin watches, eyes hooded and lips parted to wet his lips.
There’s so much Yifan wants to indulge in, but his first priority is to take away some of Jongin’s discomfort. His cock lays hard on his belly, dribbling precome that smears whenever he moves. It’s red and thick and probably hurts. Yifan dips down, eyes focused on Jongin’s face as he sucks the crown of Jongin’s cock into his mouth.
Jongin cries out, his entire body jerking upward. Yifan presses a palm to Jongin’s stomach to hold him steady, but doesn’t stop Jongin from thrusting into his mouth. It’s hurried and frantic, Jongin moaning loud enough to echo in the room. Yifan takes all of him down easily; omegas aren’t large and Jongin’s cock barely reaches the back of Yifan’s tongue.
Jongin’s hips roll faster and his head tips back, fingers buried in Yifan’s hair, poised to pull when he comes. It drives Yifan crazy; he wants more more more. He swallows, pulling off Jongin’s cock with a pop. It slaps against his belly, still hard and Jongin whimpers. He’s such a beautiful mess and Yifan won’t deny him. He knows what Jongin needs.
Yifan flips a willing Jongin onto his knees, caressing the black scales that line his spine with one hand as the other works to undo the ties on his pants. He fumbles, rushing because he’s so hard that he’s aching, wanting, needing nothing more than to sink into Jongin’s open body. Yifan’s pants fall to his thighs and he pauses only long enough to tug his shirt off over his head.
“Jongin,” Yifan begins, sliding his cock down Jongin’s crack to slick himself.
“Alpha,” Jongin responds, his back dipping toward the bed and his plush ass pushing back against Yifan’s cock.
Yifan holds Jongin’s hips, fitting the head of his cock to Jongin’s wet, swollen rim. It’s Jongin who rocks back, impaling himself on Yifan’s cock with a satisfied sigh. He doesn’t stop until Yifan is buried inside him, clenching hotly around his girth as Yifan savors the feeling.
Jongin takes him so well, moaning every time he rocks forward and gasping when he pushes back to fill himself. Yifan watches, his cock glistening more and more each time it disappears into Jongin’s plump ass. His fingers pry Jongin’s cheeks apart and Yifan gives him soft words of encouragement as Jongin fucks himself back on Yifan’s dick, going faster and faster and still whining for more.
Yifan finally gives Jongin what he wants.
He takes Jongin by the hips and thrusts forward, sending Jongin’s face into the pillow. Yifan moves to Jongin’s rhythm, picking up speed until the sound of skin slapping is nearly as loud as Jongin’s moans. His fingers twist in the sheets and Yifan runs his hands up Jongin’s sides, then scrapes his nails down the length of Jongin’s spine, just by the scales. Jongin tightens around him, nearly screaming as he comes for a second time.
Yifan slows his thrusting, relishing every pulse that wracks through Jongin’s body. It’s not surprising that Jongin is still hard. It takes an alpha’s knot to fully satiate an omega’s heat. Yifan’s is already swelling around the base of his cock, hitting against Jongin’s rim with every thrust into him.
Jongin begins moving again, bouncing on Yifan’s cock with enough force that Yifan sees the ripple along Jongin’s cheeks and down his thighs. He’s whispering, voice too low for Yifan to understand what he’s saying. He leans lower, pressing a kiss to one of the red lines that trails down Jongin’s back.
“Knot me,” Jongin is whispering. Chanting. It spills unending from his lips, desperate and needy.
Yifan pulls out of Jongin completely. When Yifan turns Jongin onto his back, the omega is staring up at him with indignation written on his face. It only takes seconds for Yifan to sheathe his cock inside him again, and Jongin’s irritation fades, replaced with unabashed pleasure. His legs lift to wrap around Yifan’s waist, hips rising off the bed so Yifan can sink deeper into him.
Yifan fucks Jongin open with long, smooth strokes that fill the omega perfectly and leave him breathless, too out of it to even beg. Jongin’s eyes are clouded over, lips bitten and wet, his skin shining. Everything about him is beautiful.
Yifan’s knot grows, catching on Jongin’s rim to spread him just a little wider with every thrust. His fingers grip tight around Jongin’s waist, the skin giving easily as Yifan holds, wanting to mark and bruise. Jongin’s fingers are twisted in the sheets by his head as he clenches around Yifan’s knot, gasping, his spine arching off the bed when the knot locks them together.
Jongin writhes on it, his moans growing higher as Yifan grinds it further into him. He falls over the omega, pushing pushing pushing to give Jongin what he needs as the pleasure threatens to overtake him. Yifan feels Jongin’s hands on his back, on his face, guiding him until their mouths are pressed together. Jongin licks between Yifan’s lips, dragging out a growl; Yifan kisses him feverishly, breathing harsh through his nose as his knot continues to grow.
Jongin’s thighs tremble, his limbs locking into place and Yifan feels the orgasm wash through Jongin. He rocks through it, coaxing Jongin to keep moving until Yifan can’t hold back. He moans into Jongin’s mouth, his hips jerking forward as the pressure finally releases and he comes inside Jongin with a shudder.
It takes minutes for Yifan to stop moving, Jongin’s body milking every drop it can from him. Jongin strokes over Yifan’s neck and into his hair, nails scraping softly down to his back. He taps lightly on Yifan’s scales, laughing when Yifan shivers and groans from the sensitivity. Yifan nips Jongin’s lower lip in retaliation, realizing that he probably shouldn’t have when Jongin clenches around his knot.
“Thank you,” Jongin whispers. “For everything.”
Jongin is asleep by the time Yifan’s knot has shrunk enough to pull free. Yifan is careful when he does it, not wanting to wake the exhausted omega. He’s had quite the journey already and it’s not over yet. With an alpha on hand, an omega’s heat can still last for three or four days; Yifan is going to be there for Jongin - for as long as it takes. After that, well, they can talk about things later.
It rains all through the night. Yifan leaves Jongin sleeping, watching the steady rise and fall of his chest before slipping away. The wet ground is easier to move and pat down, hiding the evidence of Jongin’s presence. When the sun finally crests over the trees, Yifan is covered in mud from the waist down, but his yard looks far more normal and he’s satisfied that no one will be the wiser.
Jongin will be waking soon and Yifan wants to have breakfast ready and waiting before they both succumb to his heat again.
“How long have you been living here?” Jongin asks. His voice is smooth, his weight pleasant as he reclines on Yifan’s chest, comfortable. Content as only an omega can be.
Yifan’s hands rub soothingly up Jongin’s sides and back down, and he tries not to think about how wonderful it feels to have his knot snug inside Jongin’s body. It’s not an easy feat when Jongin flexes a little, letting out a soft sigh. “Years,” Yifan answers, not wanting to ruin the moment by letting his past come back to torment him.
“Why?”
“Hunters,” Yifan offers as an explanation. “I knew they were tracking me and I needed to escape. I took on this form and wandered into the nearest village. I didn’t know what I was doing, but someone took pity on me and took me in, fed me, clothed me, helped me blend in.” It’s a simplified version of the story, but that’s all Yifan is going to give.
“Did you ever think about going back?” Jongin’s eyes are inquisitive and he watches Yifan’s face intently.
“It’s like you told me when you first arrived - there was nothing for me to go back to. I was tired of running. I wanted to stop.”
“I grew up in the mountain caves,” Jongin begins, chin resting on Yifan’s chest as he wiggles experimentally on Yifan’s knot. “I’d always heard stories of the hunters and of the brave dragons who ventured out of the protected area. It was all fairy tales, bedtime stories I thought my parents told me so I’d behave and stay in the encampment.” Jongin pauses, pulling in a deep breath as Yifan wraps his arms around Jongin’s shoulders for comfort.
He holds Jongin tight to his chest, bracing his weight so he can sit up. Jongin gasps, holding on in surprise. Yifan gives him a half smile, brushing the damp strands of Jongin’s hair from his face. Jongin settles more comfortably on Yifan, humming in contentment as his hips push down. Yifan tries not to let out a groan and fails. Jongin smiles at him.
“So you ran away? For a little excitement?”
“I wasn’t that adventurous,” Jongin admits.
Jongin smells so wonderful still and Yifan could nose along his neck and collarbones if he wasn’t invested in the conversation. It’s not every day that a gorgeous omega lands in his backyard. Yifan is thankful for the company. He hadn't even realized he missed having another dragon around until now. Until Jongin.
“So what drew you out?”
Jongin leans in, his palms cupping Yifan’s cheeks as he stares into his eyes. “An alpha,” he whispers. Then his mouth is on Yifan’s and he’s kissing him, head tilting and hips rocking to grind on Yifan’s still swollen knot.
The conversation dwindles from words to gasped pleas, Jongin’s heat flaring up and demanding attention. They’ll pick up the conversation later, when Jongin isn’t begging for Yifan to knot him again.
Chanyeol knocks on Yifan’s door the same as he does every week. He lets himself in with his key, boots left by the door because they’re not caked in mud this time. Yifan is busy wiping the sweat from his face with a small towel, having spent the last two days and nights cooped up in his work room - catching up with the work orders he’d put off in order to care for Jongin.
“You have company,” Chanyeol says in surprise. He turns to Yifan, thumb pointing at Jongin who is sitting in a chair in the corner, paging through one of the few books Yifan owns. “Why do you have company? Am I being replaced?”
Yifan snorts, rolling his eyes as he assures Chanyeol that his job, and friendship, are secure. His jaw, however, does nearly drop to the floor when Yifan tells him that Jongin is the omega that had been in the area.
“Is that why you finally built a chair?” Chanyeol accuses. “You never built me a chair.”
“Forgive me for catering to the person who’s living with me and not the one who stops by but once a week,” Yifan answers, crossing his arms over his chest.
“He’s living here now?”
Yifan can’t help grinning, meeting Jongin’s eyes when Jongin peers over at the pair of them. He’s really the quiet sort, timid when he’s not running on his instincts to mate. Yifan had told him a few days earlier he could stay here as long as he liked and Jongin had smiled, kissing him heatedly until Yifan couldn’t breathe. He’s wearing a pair of ill fitting pants that fall dangerously low on his hips when he stands, but they’re all Yifan has. Jongin still refuses to wear a shirt, pouting because the fabric catches on his scales and Yifan relents. He’ll get him used to it later.
“I’ll need you to double up on the food and supplies,” Yifan informs Chanyeol who makes a noise of agreement, too focused on Jongin. Yifan snaps his fingers in Chanyeol’s face. “Don’t get any ideas. He’s still a dragon and he’ll bite your head off if he needs to.”
Chanyeol’s entire face scrunches. “I was just thinking that you might want to invest in a few more decorations. Maybe something to entertain him because staring at the walls doesn’t do it for everyone.” Chanyeol gives Yifan a judging once over.
“Fine,” Yifan relents. “You can pick up other stuff.”
Chanyeol is a smug shit and he’s still smiling even as Yifan kicks him out because he doesn’t want to overwhelm Jongin. He’s not used to being around people.
The moment the door is locked, Jongin stands. The pants he has on fall to his ankles. He looks down at them, gingerly stepping out of the clothing before walking off toward the bedroom, the scales on his back gleaming, enticing. His muscled thighs flex with each step, his rounded butt bouncing just a little and it’s too much to resist.
