I just finished 'Middlesex' by Jeffrey Eugenides. Once again, I came upon Plato's thoughts on the origin of the sexes and sexual orientation. First Hedwig, then everywhere in literature, and now in contemporary thought where you would expect the stereotypes and fears of modern society to be prevalent

middlesex - such a great book. a little strange, but v. v. good. better than hedwig, i think, though missing a lot of the glamour and rock ranting about.
