"One more time," Jacen implored quietly.  His voice sounded remarkably distant, flat and hollow.  His throat immediately parched, and he swallowed thickly against the effort of those few words.

"Coruscant, sir," chirped the droid beside him, obliging and oblivious to the way that word hit him like a gaffi stick to the back of the head.

His eyes remained entranced by the view outside, and he stepped closer to the transparisteel pane, raising a hand to press against it, as if he might be able to confirm it wasn't just a view screen.

That what he was looking at was real.

Chastising himself for not doing this immediately, Jacen stretched out with his senses, feeling the teeming life all around him.  Not the alien, twisted life of a Vong-formed world, but that of a vital society.

While there was a definite smoothness and elegance to the design of most of the buildings rearing up across the panorama like a metallic forest that was enough to convince Jacen that this was not his Coruscant, there was still an undeniable familiarity ( ... )

The process of moving from a sleeping state to one of waking had never been one Tenel Ka spent all that much time on, but today there was something different. The Queen Mother of the Hapes Consortium sat bolt upright in bed - asleep one moment and achingly aware of the fact that this was not Hapes the next ( ... )

Jacen was so caught up in his amazement over finding himself here, that he hadn't bothered to distinguish between Force presences as he drifted among them.

But now one caught his attention, directly in the room with him, and his head turned, dark eyes widening slightly.

Tenel Ka?

It had been so long since he'd seen her last; or even if it hadn't been as long as he imagined, there was a wealth of experiences that lay in the gulf between their last meeting and this one that made it seem that way.

He moved away from the window, fingers brushing against the pane, as he stared at her for a long moment.

"Tenel Ka."

Tenel Ka was not an eloquent person at the best of times, but right now she found herself quite suddenly struck speechless.

It wasn't that she wasn't happy to see her friend, of course not, but the fact that he was here in the same room with her, an a room that she had not expected to be in, in the first place...

She remembered how to blink, then, and took a few steps forward, reaching out to Jacen through the Force to confirm that it was really, truly him.

"Do you have any knowledge of where we are, or how we got here?" she asked finally, too - overwhelmed, to come up with anything more personal.

Jacen could sense her touching his mind through the Force, and offered up a calming consolation that it was indeed him. The situation might have been exorbitantly awkward given their relative state of undress but he was too busy being shocked to really give it too much heed.

His gaze flicked out the window again at her words, and he inclined his head slowly.

"... It's Coruscant," he said, simply, glancing back at her as he let that sink in.

The relief that washed over her at that simple confirmation was intense, if short-lived. The unknown, she had found over the years, was always better faced with one's companions; there were few, if any people in the world she would rather have found herself in this situation with. Whatever the situation happened to be.

Her eyes widened slightly, but her expression remained blank as she moved over to stand next to him - not because she didn't believe him, but more from an instinctive need to confirm the impossible with her own eyes.

"...This is a fact," she said after a moment, reverting to the longer form of her habitual saying, for lack of any other words at that moment. She stared out at the cityscape for a long moment before turning her face back up to Jacen. "There is a datapad in the room I arrived in, it appears to be connected to some sort of network. There are others here, and they seem to have as little idea of what is going on as we do."

Jo woke up with a start, bolting upright in bed. Gasping for air, her hands traveled all across her body, feeling that she was solid and that she wasn't hurt. The last thing she remembered was bleeding to death on the floor of the hardware store, and saying goodbye to the people she cared about. She could barely remember her mother's voice telling her that she was proud of her, and then falling into a warm darkness.

Now she was awake, and she wasn't entire sure if it was heaven, or some kind of really fucked up hospital. The fact that she didn't have clothes on apart from her undergarments was quickly picked up on, and she grimaced at the possibilities of what that could mean.

"Hello?" She called out, her voice raspy.

She then realized that she could hear voices, not ones she recognized, but maybe they'd be able to tell her where she was and whether or not her mother was alive and nearby.

Others, she said. As soon as she did, he closed his eyes again lightly, focusing outward, wondering in the space of an instant if there were others here: his sister, his uncle, his friends.

The mystery of how he'd arrived here still hung in the air, but there were more immediate matters at hand. He sensed the presence in the side room even as she called out uncertainly. There was a sense of confusion exuding from her, and a heaviness that spoke volumes. But nothing familiar about her presence.

He took a step past Tenel Ka, his hand reaching out to brush her elbow as he did so.

"Hello?" he called out, sending out calming waves through the Force as well in an effort to assure her there were friends out here, rather than enemies.

Tenel Ka stilled as she noticed the other presence through the Force, a beat behind Jacen. Unlike her friend, she remained wary, grip tightening on her makeshift weapon slightly. She was hyper-aware of his hand brushing past her - people did not, as a rule, dare to touch the Queen Mother - but ignored it, focussing on this other presence.

She stayed in step with Jacen as he moved, neither ahead nor behind but simply at his side. She didn't say anything for the moment, but waited, prepared, to see what would happen.

Wrapping her sheet around herself as best as possible, she moved to stand up. "Over here!" She called out, and went over to meet them halfway. A redhead and a guy with hair that Sam would have envied. A couple, maybe? It didn't matter, she didn't know them.

"Where are we?" She frowned a little, and glanced down at her body where there had been injuries only a short while ago. "Are we all dead?"

Honestly, Jacen's jaw dropped slightly, and a half mumbled "Danni--?" rolled off his lips before he caught himself, upon seeing the woman waiting for them.

It wasn't Danni - he could recognize that much through her presence in the Force, but she did bear an uncanny resemblance, and the fact that she only seemed to be wrapped up in a sheet almost brought a twinge of color to his cheeks, as he finally really realized that they were all in a state of undress. It was different somehow with Tenel Ka; they'd been through so much together that the lack of clothes had seemed like just another thing to deal with compared to the "on Coruscant before it was destroyed" part of things ( ... )

Tenel Ka glanced over at Jacen at that, and it wasn't the fact that her facial expression changed, but rather that it stayed exactly the same that spoke volumes. Her friend was an idiot.

"I do not believe we are dead," she said simply, finally lowering her makeshift weapon. She did not sense any ill-intent from this woman. "Of course, I have never experienced such a thing before, so I couldn't say for sure." From anyone else it might have been a joke, but as always with Tenel Ka, it was almost impossible to tell.

"I am Tenel Ka." She paused for a moment, considering what else to add to that introduction. "Also a Jedi Knight." There was no reason to mention any of the rest of her titles at this point.

"Jedi?" Oh, this couldn't be happening. Whatever this was? It wasn't real life, and it probably wasn't any version of Heaven. Her version of Heaven would have her front and center at an REO concert, with Kevin Cronin singing his heart out to her. There'd be some backstage action and some -

Well. Definitely not Jedi.

She didn't believe that they weren't dead, and only let out a small snort as Tenel Ka talked about her beliefs on the matter. She did offer both people a small nod and as much of a confident smirk as she could manage, given the situation.

"Jace, TK. Looks like we're stuck together, at least for now. I'm Jo Harvelle, and I don't have any idea where Coruscant even is, but if you say we're there, then all right."

Jo was pretty accepting of the situation for someone who'd never heard of Coruscant before. He wondered if she were from an Outer Rim world, or somewhere further than that, even. He exchanged a glance with Tenel Ka, who he figured might have the same questions.

"That's a pretty positive attitude to have," he noted, though there was caution in his own voice that seemed to say as much as he appreciated her optimism, he wasn't entirely disposed to share it quite yet. "Can I ask how you got here, or what world you were on?"

Tenel Ka blinked once at being called 'TK', her equivalent of a surprised double take. She couldn't remember the last time a person had dared give her any nickname, let alone one so abbreviated. It didn't seem necessary to comment on at that point, however, so she let it slide.

She caught Jacen's glance in the edge of her vision and inclined her head slightly, confirming her response to his unspoken question. She was content to let Jacen do most of the speaking for the time being, preferring to watch and listen, gather pertinent information that may come in use at a later date.
