When Leia asked Luke if there was anything she could do to help distract or cheer him up about Zekk's disappearance, she hadn't expected swoop bikes. Though in retrospect, she probably should have.
Still, an offer was an offer, and it was a long time since she'd had a chance to do any sort of racing either. Leia wasn't the pilot Luke was (even Luke at this age) but she shared his predilection for going too fast on a machine that it looked like she shouldn't be able to control. Anyone who wanted her to stop could get out of the way. And there were race courses available for those who wanted to use them and had the credits to pay for it, so why not?
The catch was the age restriction. Sixteen and older only. No problem for her, but Luke was another matter. Leia had considered posing as Luke's legal guardian, but then had a better idea and went to R2D2.
With some clever systems cracking from The Little Droid That Could Artoo, she had something better than a fake licence for Luke. She had documentation stating that he was in fact Lukas Epsilon, genius junior racer, who had special permission to use the track for practice. Oh, and that his "trainer" Winter Bail was permitted to accompany him. When they checked the documentation they'd find a whole section of planted material to back up the story.
No, the pseudonyms weren't necessary, but what fun was a harmless deception without some gratuitous fake names to go with it?
Leia grinned from ear to ear. This looked to be fun, and it seemed like a while since she'd been able to have any fun. Between being a witness to serial killing plus having to decide what to do about the draft (and arguing with Han about it), the idea of an afternoon out--particularly with Luke--definitely had appeal. She eyed the bikes, trying to decide which one looked best.
