Game Console Poll

Jun 29, 2011 15:37

I find myself lacking a game console and having to make a tough decision: PS3 or Xbox360? On one hand I already have a few games and the rock band accessories for the Xbox360. On the other hand, I've always thought PS3s seemed shinier (probably because I like the look of the user interface better and the fact that it's a blue ray player). I don' ( Read more... )

We went with the PS3 because of the blu-ray player and have been very happy with it. However, I have never used an xbox, so I can't really compare them. That being said, if you want to borrow our PS3 Dragon Age, we'd be happy to lend it.

From what little interaction I have with consoles these days, it seems like there are far less "exclusives" on one or the other, but I *think* the PS3 still wins if you want JRPGs and the Xbox360 still wins if you wan first-person shooters?

Between that and the Blu-Ray difference, I'd go PS3 if I were making the choice.

That's pretty much why we went with PS3.

Also go with the Xbox360 if you want to do online play. Otherwise, I'm happy with my PS3 and wouldn't trade it for an Xbox360.

The Proctor crew here. As a group who has had both a PS3 and Xbox, we"d go for the PS3. We actually got rid of our xbox earlier this year as we were barely playing it. We also had a series of hardware fails which were the tipping point in getting rid of our second Xbox (the first red-ringed on us). The PS3 has a better set-up with the built in Blu-ray and, I believe, more powerful hardware. We don't do any online multi-player so no idea if that function is any good though. Hope this helps!

Thanks. It took me a little while to figure out where this reply came from, but I solved the mystery. :)

Everyone so far is correct. XBOX better for FPS, online play, more 'casual' games. PS3 has more JRPGs, also that blu-ray player. The Xbox store just has a better UI than PS3, but I go mostly with disc-based thingums. PS3 also has LittleBigPlanet, which is adorable even though it's a platformer.

I'll be happy to lend you anything out of my PS3 library (that I am not currently playing), and I have one X360 game.
