Who was your buddy this month? panda
What books were chosen for you? A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle, Howl's Moving Castle by Dianna Wynne Jones, Warchild by Karin Lowachee
Did you manage to read your books? Which ones? I read A Wrinkle in Time and I'm currently in the middle of Howl's Moving Castle
If you read more than one, did you enjoy them? What was your favorite? A Wrinkle in Time was okay, I guess. I liked the whole aspect of time jumps and multiverses, but I could have done without all the not-so-subtle references to Christianity. Howl's Moving Castle has been good so far.
Would you recommend your chosen book(s)? If you're into sci-fi/fantasy/cutesy then yes.
Did you read anything else this month, outside of your chosen books? I read The Danish Girl by David Ebershoff

What books were chosen for you? "The Water Dancer" by Ta-Nehisi Coates, "Feed" by Mira Grant and "Vampire Forensics: Uncovering the Origins of an Enduring Legend" by Mark Collins Jenkins.
Did you manage to read your books? Which ones? Only the first two, but didn't quite feel up to Vampires this month...
If you read more than one, did you enjoy them? What was your favorite? I really enjoyed the former, while the latter veered off in a direction I didn't expect.
Would you recommend your chosen book(s)? Resounding yes for Ta-Nehisi Coates, but only a tentative rec for Mira Grant - the latter isn't the zombie apocalypse you might expect from the blurb.
Did you read anything else this month, outside of your chosen books? I did!
☛ "Playlist" by Sebastian Fitzek (advertised as a standalone, but you should be aware that it links directly to both cases of the Augensammler. I never read those, so I was floundering a bit - thankfully, everything was described in a way that knowing the previous books wasn't a ( ... )

Glad to hear you liked the Coates book - now I am even more intrigued to read it myself.
About "Playlist"...is it required to listen to the songs in order to understand the story? I am not sure I really completely "get" the concept of the book -.-

Frankly, there is nothing to get, really. The idea of listening to the songs while reading sure is a nice concept, but not absolutely necessary to follow the story - in fact, the protagonists themselves kinda "explain" as they go along, solving the case.

I see! They made such a fuss about the whole music/book "tie-in" concept that I wasn't quite sure if it was necessary.

What books were chosen for you?
Choice 1: Barracoon: The Story of the Last “Black Cargo” by Zora Neale Hurston (Nonfiction / Female Author)
Choice 2: Caraval by Stephanie Garber (Fantasy / Female Author)
Choice 3: Dry by Neal Shusterman (SciFi)

Did you manage to read your books? Which ones?
I read "Caraval" and "Dry".
If you read more than one, did you enjoy them? What was your favorite?
"Caraval" was a huge disappointment. It was so hyped a couple years ago but didn't live up to it for me at all. It was fun to read the one-star reviews on Goodreads tho because people had some hilarious commentary, lol.
"Dry" was pretty good, despite feeling rushed towards the ending and like the authors tried too hard to make everything okay again which I felt was unrealistic.

Would you recommend your chosen book(s)?
I recommend "Dry" if you like young adult and/or dystopia books, just keep in mind what I mentioned above re: the ending.
