chilli con carne with chocolate sounds crazy, I know, but adding chocolate is kinda like cooking with wine - although you don’t notice the chocolate taste, it really adds a depth of flavour and a richness to the dish. · pretty easy · serves 4 ( recipe )
It doesn't sound so weird to me. There are a lot of good recipes that use chocolate in a non-dessert way. Mole' for instance. What is unique in my mind is that it's served over rice. I never thought of that.
And I didn't know Coriander was also Cilantro. I have several unused jars of it, because fankly, I didn't know what it was. How dumb do I seem right now.
There's ground coriander seed, which is different than Cilantro. I wouldn't use dried cilantro leaves - nowhere near the same flavor, it just doesn't work. Ground coriander seed has an almost lemony-cumin flavor, and I use it in mexican dishes to enhance flavors and add a little brightness.
