quick update

So, saw TDKR today and, man, all of my Bane feels. ALL of them. In spite of his hilarious voice mod. I get that there were issues with him being understood but really. He's wearing a mask, some issues are to be expected. Must we make him sound like some kind of caricature?

Especially when Tom Hardy has such a lovely voice.

TDKR: I did have trouble understanding Bane a bit, but that doesn't depreciate my love of Hardy as a actor in any way at all. He had a funky mask thing on his face, so I went in expecting to miss a line or two and pick up on what I missed the next time I see it.

Vampires: Have you read The Passage? 'Cause I swear, it's my favorite take on vampires yet.

As did I, to be honest, so I was rather surprised to go in and hear that he had been dubbed. The dubbing was probably a smart move, really, because even though you have people going into the cinema, prepared to be realistic, there will always be naysayers. My issue was that his accent made him sound like a cartoon villain - and not at all remotely like Tom Hardy or the Bane I'd heard on the trailers.

Still, an interesting movie. Better than I'd expected, though probably not how I'd have chosen to end things.

I can't say that I have. Having taken a peek at the wiki entry, I'm reminded a little of Guillermo de Toro's The Strain books -- which, actually, also an interesting take though he'd been using the mythos for a while so I'm not sure if it counts as a new take. Would you say it's worth taking a look at further?

I would recommend it to anyone who likes vampires. Also, Ridley Scott is gonna make a movie of it.

I have a huge soft spot for them. They're one of those things that never seem to get old for me.

Also, RIDLEY SCOTT! *all the happy flails*
