I haven't done an knitting post since March - and I have quite a few!
Most importantly, the sweater with too-long sleeves that I was asking about a few weeks ago - I want to thank everyone for their advice and especially "monomania" for the link! I just finished sewing on the buttons today, I'm so excited!!
Pattern is "Que Sera" from Knitty.com
Yarn is Lion Brand Cotton Ease (50% cotton, 50% acrylic)
More pictures and the whole saga is on my ravelry page (I am "shawnooke" on ravelry.)
I was simultaneously working on my FIRST PAIR OF SOCKS ever!
Did these on DPNS using Cascade 220 superwash from my stash. I followed Silver's Sock Class directions pretty much entirely, and I did do the leg in a k3, p1 rib pattern. (I've now started doing another pair of socks 2-at-a-time on a circular needle.) These were for my boyfriend and fit him great!
I made two of these LACE BOOKMARKS.
This one was for me using some leftover Cascade Palace "mini mochi" sock yarn. I really love how the colors work together on this.
I whipped up another one for my friend's birthday using some leftover lace-weight yarn (from my Haruni shawl-see below.)
I decided my new awesome sunglasses (that fit over my real glasses and don't look stupid, win!) needed a cozy for when they are in my purse so they don't get scratched. Since knitting is the answer for everything...
I used some leftover Cascade Palace "mochi plus" yarn I had and bought a cute button. Voila!
My other recent large project - HARUNI SHAWL for my mom for Mother's day.
Yarn is Blue Ridge Yarns "alpaca delight mini" - I love the colors!!
Pattern is "Haruni". This was my first large lace project, some of the long rows were insanely long (I think the longest was over 500 stitches) but I slogged through it. I was worried it wouldn't be finished in time for Mother's Day - primarily because the i-cord bindoff took about 8 times longer than I expected it to, but i managed to finish and block it on with about an hour to spare before seeing my mom. :)
Before that I made these "OWLINGS" fingerless gloves for my sister.
The pattern does not call for embroidering the owls (they are cabled), but i thought that with the fuzzy yarn they just weren't very visible, so I embroidered over them. I did some kind of weird version of duplicate stitch because the cables weren't exactly easy to read. I used french knots for the eyes. It was all rather tedious and I did the owls on the hand and on the wrist of each glove, which you cant' see in the photo. There is a sad story about these - for some reason the second one was significantly shorter than the first, and I deduced that the problem had arisen back in the cuff, so I had to unravel and redo the whole thing!
Gray yarn is Blue Sky Alpacas "100% Alpaca sport weight". It is really, really soft and cozy.
That's what I've been doing over the last 6 months. More details and pictures are on ravelry (I'm "shawnooke' on ravelry). I can provide links to patterns if you don't have ravelry for most of them. Just ask!
