I have been a busy knitting bee these last 4 months since I posted! Mostly Xmas presents but other stuff too!
OK first of all - my second pair of socks!
Pattern:
H Sock by Melissa Morgan-Oakes
Yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash from stash
My first (and only so far) time knitting socks two-at-a-time on 1 circular needle. (My BF's mom bought me the Morgan-Oakes book without knowing that I was slowly but surely working my way up to this and had just finished my first sock on DPNs when she sent it to me for my birthday)
My first Xmas knitting - actually finished this in October! For the aforementioned BFs mom who encourages my knitting. :)
Pattern:
Rose Red by Ysolda Teague
Yarn: Cascade Yarns Indulgence (alpaca angora blend!)
I love this hat so much I'm pretty sure I'm going to make myself one just like it!
Oh yes - and then I did some Halloween knitting before launching into more Xmas knitting.
Pattern:
Leia Wig by Ansley Bleu
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft (held double)
I had been plotting knitting this for my Halloween costume for almost a year. I did the whole shebang outfit w/ the white dress, belt etc (photos on ravelry). Highly pleased with the results! Especialy how the yarn almost matches my hair! :)
Then I had some friends get married out of state around Halloween, so this was my wedding gift to them. Wedding pumpkin!
Pattern:
Baby Pumpkin by Terry Morris
Yarn: some unmarked acrylic somebody gave me once - perfect pumpkin colors!
We have an inside joke from back when our band was on tour about pumpkins building societies and bridges (you had to be there) so this was extra funny between us. It was really quick to make (actually timed it to be about 1.5 hours start to finish).
Oh and then I decided I needed a soft fluffy cowl in order to use up some yarn in my stash and because it was cold- thus the "impulsive cowl"
Pattern:
Quickie Cowl by Fawn Pea
Yarn: Cascade Yarns Baby Alpaca Chunky
Really was quick to make and this yarn is so dang soft. Too bad it leave white fuzzies all over everything though. Still I wear it almost every day.
Finally back to Xmas knitting!
Pattern:
Wa na na na na na na na Bat Shawl! by Emilee Mooney
Yarn: The Alpaca Yarn Co. Glimmer
I picked this out for my apt manager (I've lived here about 6 years) as an Xmas gift because she loves Halloween, anything sparkly and fabulous, and also is very encouraging of my knitting adventures and helps promote our weekly craft night in the lobby. So she deserved a nice knitted present this year. I gave it to her at our Xmas party this week and she was so touched she cried, said it was the best xmas present she'd ever received and paraded it around to everyone at the party. Who could ask for a better reaction to a hand-made gift?
This is one of my favorite things I've made lately - the Sock Monkey Dog Sweater!
Pattern: modified from
Hoodie Dog Coat by Bernat Design Studio
Yarn:
Järbo Garn Raggi Multi & Cascade 220 Superwash
I had a lot of fun with this, although at first I was not a fan of how the pattern was written. Left a little too much for (mis)interpretation for my taste. However the results are fabulous. My friends who own this little doggie (Lola) gave me the idea a while back about how they'd like to dress Lola up as a sock monkey and so I thought I'd see if I could pull it off! All I did was do the leg and body edging in white, and the top 1.5 inches of the hood in white, and then added a pom pom and a little red bow with some extra yarn. Turned out so cute!
I made one more dog sweater for my boss's "grand-dog" Goose.
Pattern:
Snowflake Dog Sweater by Erin McNellis
Yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash
Goose looks JUST LIKE the dog in the pattern so I had to make it for him! Looks so cute and fits him well. I was not able to measure either of the dogs that I made sweaters for, so I was holding my breath that they would fit. Thankfully they did!
Lastly (finally, right?) I knitted a wreath!
Pattern: rather heavily modified from
Knitted Wreath by Julie Weisenberger
Yarn: Crystal Palace Yarns Mini Mochi in "strawberry limes rainbow" from stash
This is the "DIY" version. No wreath frames, florist wire or freshwater pearls for me! Just a hanger and some ribbon and some buttons I got for free and leftover yarn! So happy with the results though! :)
Thanks for looking! I am "shawnooke" on ravelry if you'd like to see more pictures and details.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!
