She had been somewhat surprised by his brief frown. It had not been the sort of frown to deter her, and certainly not the kind she was used to seeing. There were many different kinds of facial expressions and she was learning to categorize them. However, his frown did make her wonder exactly what he had been thinking of. Telepathy, perhaps, would have been useful.
"...ah. I see. This is like when one only drinks beer... then?" Laura asked Tommy, puzzling out the exact meaning of his words. A preferred something that was consumed, like a food or drink. She had not met many who expressed their preference so glibly.
She entered the kitchen with some caution. Unfamiliar territories were to be entered without haste. In the event of an emergency it would be to one's advantage to be ready to fight or flee.
