Ichigo looked up from the pancake batter he was currently working on making to see Mei enter the kitchen. He held up a hand in greeting before going back to cracking eggs. He'd already gone through a dozen and a half of the things, and there was no end in sight. They certainly had a lot of mouths to feed.

Which was why he was glad for Mei's help, of course. Grimmjow was worthless when it came to cooking.

He always felt a little silly in his apron, the black article of clothing currently having flower all over it, but ruining his clothing was not an option. He liked his clothes. "Ohayou, Mei. Pancakes this morning. We need enough for.. about 30 people, I think."

"And knowing this crew, there will be a lot!" Mei looked amazed at the eggs as she walked in, heading over to where she kept her apron. Xiao-Mei hopped off her and relaxed on the counter, black ears twitching towards Ichigo. She liked him, he was ... interesting. Mei didn't seem to mind him either, so she was all right with him. The girl headed over towards him, tying the apron about her waist and examining the progress.

"You've been at this for a while, haven't you?" she pushed her braids over her shoulder to let them dangle behind her, rolling up her sleeves in one smooth motion before picking up a couple eggs between her fingers in one hand. "Honestly, I wonder, how Kai-san let Grimmjow become another cook..." She sighed a little, before flicking each egg with her index finger on the other hand, managing to crack them all and not get any shell in.

He merely shrugged at her query, not really having any idea either. Sure the man could make decent lemonade, but certainly that wasn't enough to become a cook, right? The captain seemed to like tea more than lemonade anyway. "I think the captain just wasn't thinking when he hired most of us. No offense." It was simply amazing how many girls ended up on this ship. Some of them he could understand, but Mei wasn't even remotely boy-like.

Cracking the last egg and discarding the shell, he grabbed the baking soda and began measuring it out. Ichigo gave a look to the tiny panda on the counter. The little thing was odd, and he had always meant to ask about it, but it never seemed to come up. He didn't mind it in the kitchen, though. He was used to small, plush things hanging around. "Hopefully someone eats all of these. We don't seem to have many early risers."

"None taken," she said cheerfully, seeming to be grinning a little at the statement. She... really did wonder how she ended up on the ship. "Don't tell him, but I think Kai-san is gender blind." Mei whispered, nearly in a conspiring manner, hand cupped next to her mouth towards the strawberry blonde. Xiao-Mei made a noise that could be put in the same category as a meow, seeming to be amused herself with this. "Especially with Emma-san walking around." Mei had... briefly met the woman. Needless to say, she was interesting.

Mei took a moment to seek out the rest of the ingredients' measurements, so long as they could stay stationary on the counter top. "I'm sure people will show up to eat them. If not, Xiao-Mei certainly has a big enough appetite." She teased the panda like one would a person, the tiny bear making a growling, nearly pouty noise at the teenage girl.

He felt a little amused by her words concerning the captain, and he honestly felt the same. He'd met at least two females since getting on the ship, and he was certain there were more somewhere around here. This Emma that Mei mentioned though was unfamiliar to him, and he tilted his head to the side. "Emma? Who's that? I don't think I've seen her come down for dinner." Which wasn't unusual. He usually served the food up, ate, and left. There was no reason for him to sit around and watch others eat and bicker over who go the last bit of food.

He eyed the little panda again at that comment, and not knowing much about the species of bear, he really wondered if pancakes were okay for their digestive tract. He doubted that Mei would feed the little thing anything that would harm it. He made an agreeing noise at her statement, dumping the baking soda into the industrial size mixing bowl.

"Emma-san is the other first mate. I haven't met the other one yet, but she's this very tall blonde woman! And she's very obviously a woman. She doesn't hide it at all or anything!" Mei seemed amazed by this, measuring out a few more ingredients for him thoughtfully. "She actually dresses much less than I do," she felt a little embaressed to say this, but it was true. Emma Frost wore not proper clothing.

Xiao-Mei returned the look to Ichigo with dim brown-black eyes, making a noise a little in her throat before shifting up onto her paws and trailing over the counter towards Mei. "Oh don't worry, Xiao-Mei! You know I'm only picking on you..." Mei knew by now what was and wasn't good for her panda, thankfully. She let her reattach herself to her sash, giving her a pat to her head.

"Ah. I see." He said to her description of this Emma. A woman for a first mate? The captain was really blind to allow that kind of thing to happen. Apparently the woman was a slutty dresser too. This made Ichigo rather glad that he had not met her yet. He always shied away from women in revealing clothing. They just didn't mix well.

He chuckled at the conversation going on between the girl and the small animal, the interaction reminding him of his own interactions with a certain somebody. He frowned absently, and wondered how he was doing since he left home. Ichigo really had ditched him, hadn't he?

"I think the batter is done. Is the griddle done heating?" He asked, stirring together the batter in its large bowl.
