Her books are crap. Well, not all of them. "We The Living" is pretty good, so is "Anthem", I just have no affection for her bricks except as loving, unintentional self-parodies.

One of my favorite books, "Sewer, Gas & Electric", by Matt Ruff, actually exists as a parody of "Atlas Shrugged", something Ruff isn't shy about acknowledging and is actually a lot of fun (as it features Ayn Rand as a hologram in a lamp, a female character based on her experience in Russia, AND a rather pleasant and kind version of John Galt who comes off like Tom Swift with an MBA). It's one of the few political satires worthy of the term, and genuinely warm-hearted to boot.

Wait, Chad Michael Murray in "Atlas Shrugged"? maybe thay cast hiom because all he does well is squint and shrug?

I used to work with people who took the words of Rand as a financial imperative. They were not nice people.

I've never read Atlas Shrugged, or anything by Rand. But I dig the title. I think it would make a great movie serial. Lots of grainy black and white action, with Nazis and chase sequences.
I don't even know what the book is about, nor do I care.

This amuses me.

I hear that the book is making a comeback, and somehow relates to something that half of America hates and or loves, perhaps is offended by. So it's obviously about Chuckie Cheese and how it makes children insane. But I've got my magic sunglasses that show me what the aliens really look like, so all is good for me.

Lets hope I don't see the movie on a flight or something. As I'm sure it will let me down.

Could be worse. They could split The Fountainhead up into two films: The Fountainhead and The Fountainhead 2: Roark In The Courtroom.

I don't think I'll get much sleep tonight.

I don't think even undergrads take this book seriously anymore.

When I read The Fountainhead I thought it would make a fantastic HBO miniseries. Not that I really thought it was the greatest thing evar (I did rather like it, though), but nevertheless it screamed adult drama network serial.

So I'm not entirely adverse to this, I just think theatrical presentation is the wrong venue.
