Anybody here rooted a Nook Color?

I'm debating getting back into comics since reading them is now kinda my job.  But I can't afford the space that longboxes would eat up in my apartment.  So I'd like to buy them digitally, especially since DC is going all day-and-date on digital's ass ( Read more... )

Yes, actually. I rooted my Nook Color last night, and it is TOTALLY worth it. Forget Comixology, use Perfect Viewer (it's by far the best comic reader I've used w/ Android, and the fastest). It's also really, really easy; the only thing you need is a sizable MicroSD card (the really tiny ones, at least 4GB) and a card reader/writer.

Well, the reason I want to use Comixology is that I need to actually BUY comics to read them. It's a tax/legal thing: the markets I work for either accept advertising from various comics companies, or are deeply fearful of copyright trolling. Even a bullshit lawsuit could sink a few of the people I work for.

Anyway, it looked pretty straightforward from web browsing. I figure if I can install Ubuntu on a laptop, I can probably do this.

What firmware was yours before rooting, 1.2?

Dan, are you writing for DC now? I cannot tell how proud I would be if that were the case. Not to mention the opportunity to pitch "SHPoD" to a real market.
