I went to MCPL today and unless my nose deceived me someone honked in the reference section. Later I was in the Info Commons and there was a bunch of dried blood on the floor in the bathroom. I've been in the MCPL "working" (which really entails shelving a cart, reading "Supreme" by Alan Moore, and looking at photos on facebook) all day and I've noticed no vomit or blood, just the usual ten dudes looking at porno. I think that you're too used to these frat-fuck, rich kid library patrons, that just want to rent movies such as "The Real Cancun" and "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" and you've forgot what libraries are SUPPOSED to be like. Libraries are a prime hangout for the homeless and completely insane people that exist in any town. It's fact, there's no arguing: It's the way it was meant to be.

i don't think we have the real cancun OR bill and ted. but we do have homeless dudes sleeping in the stacks, crazy campus crusade people dumping their stupid flyers all over the carrols, people pooping in trashcans in the reference room, doing the pump on the 11th floor, etc.

The New Haven public library is a wonderful example of library as daytime homeless shelter/insane asylum.

Marion County branches don't seem to attract the homeless crazies.

my former housemate in Portland attended the Savannah School of Art and Design. She loves Savannah. Although hot, she said it was a great place to live.
Chicago? Awesome, but too damn cold in the winter.
