FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHERE THE HECK IS MY CHARACTER?

Your character is in the Tower and yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. It stands at fifteen floors plus a ground floor with basic living quarters and amenities. The fifteen levels in question are a mystery that will be revealed in time, filled with challenges of physical and mental ability for your character. The ground floor consists of several rooms with one bed each, a bathroom area with individual stalls and gender-divided communal showers, a common room with couches and chairs, a library and a kitchen. Your character will have little in the way of privacy or personal space.

SO HOW DOES THIS TOWER WORK?

All new characters start out with the ability to access the first challenge floor of the tower. When the tower opens its challenges for the month on the 15th, the characters will be thrown in a different location altogether. Some events would require teamwork, while some might be for individuals only, but all of them lead to the same conclusion. Complete the challenge and you level up, fail and you drop a level. The challenges may vary according to the Seven's tastes, so there will be occasions where the decisions may come off as bizarre.

THE SEVEN? WHO ARE THEY?

Basically they are the guardians of the Tower and the ones who provide you with the challenges each week. Each of them have a separate personality so even the games they provide will differ depending on their view on things. If you're lucky, they would provide easier challenge, but otherwise expect them to try to make your life into a living hell.

THESE TATTOOS/SYMBOLS, WHAT ARE THEY FOR?

The tattoo indicates what level you're able to access, and it changes periodically each time you win or lose. The color and the position of the tattoo is entirely up to the player, though the default is normally black. The position should be in an area that would be visible at all times, even if it's on the pupil like the Uchiha's Sharingan or in a simple place like the back of the hand. It could even be on the middle of the forehead if you want. However some events would change the color of the tattoo depending on the situation, though the effect is temporary and would return to it's normal color afterward.

SO WHY ARE WE BROUGHT HERE AGAIN?

The Tower longs to fulfill its initial purpose: Provide the dream of a civilization long gone. To compensate for it, the Tower gathered individuals from many worlds in order to fulfill their Wish, but since the Seven aren't about to let people easily get the prize they worked so long to complete, they would have to pass a series of challenges that are provided to them. If they are able to surpass all of these, they will acknowledge that character as worthy of the Wish and let him access the final level.

WHAT IS THIS WISH? CAN I WISH FOR ANYTHING THEN?

The wish could be anything that character desires, as long as it only affects one person. They could wish to go home, have infinite power, be the richest man in the world, etc. However, this is limited to only one person. Meaning, the character cannot wish for everyone to go home, or for everyone to be his slave. He can, however, wish for another person to go home, but that would mean he stays in the Tower again. They also cannot wish for eternal life or the death of anyone, though if there is a curse that keeps them from dying, they could ask for the Tower to lift that curse. They also cannot wish for someone else to have a wish, or for unlimited wishes, or anything of the like.

However, all wishes have to go by the mods, in case the wish itself isn't going to be allowed by the Seven. This is also to prevent unnecessary God-modding.

I FINALLY REACHED THE TOP LEVEL. WHAT NOW?

You can replay the game with that character if you chose to wish for something that didn't require him going home or because you just want to keep playing as that character, or you could drop them if he wishes to go home. If you choose to replay them after they've gone home though, expect that at least two years have passed in canon before they can return and remember the events, or you could restart them completely. If they didn't go home though, you can choose to just replay the whole thing from the start, and he'd retain all his memories in the game.

I REACHED THE TOP LEVEL AGAIN! WHAT HAPPENS TO MY WISHES?

They will accumulate if you didn't use it the first time. However, remember that one wish still affects one person only. You could decide not to ask for a wish yet if you aren't sure what the character would wish for. The Seven aren't in a hurry.

I'M A REALLY GENEROUS PERSON. CAN I TRANSFER MY WISHES TO SOMEONE ELSE?

Nope, sorry. The person who finished the level keeps the wish, so he can't just let someone else have it.

WHAT KIND OF EVENTS CAN WE EXPECT?

Every month on the 15th, the Tower will open a new floor for its residents to attempt. Aside from that, you can be sure the Seven will be doing plenty of things to make life exciting. While some events will be fandom-specific, all efforts will be made to create a fun time for all players and keep anyone from feeling excluded. Depending on which of the Seven is handling the event during that time, you can expecting a range from monster-chasing, puzzle games, environmental scouting, spying, marathons, physical changes, coliseums, etc. We'll try to keep a large variety of events as we could, but if you have any suggestions, feel free to drop it off at the Suggestion Box. The more suggestions, the better, since we'd like to make sure that our players are having fun.

Of course, it would be boring if all the characters did was wait for an event to start each time, so the Seven decided they would have fun with the living quarters as well. Each month, there would be one random thing that would happen inside the quarters. You could expect to suddenly wake up underwater (you can breath, of course), or floating in midair. You could also expect that everyone would turn into animals when they feel like fooling around. This would last for one month, and only if you're in the living quarters.

I CAN'T FIGURE OUT A PUZZLE!

This will be handled on a case-to-case basis. If you can provide a good reason why your character would be able to complete a challenge that you can't seem to get them through (for example, if you play a character who's extremely good at mathematics in canon but you as a player can't figure out a math-related challenge), then the mods can offer hints and general assistance. It never hurts to ask if you need help!

WHAT'S THIS DEVICE?

Your character's communicator is used to send messages over the network in the form of voice or video recordings, or plain text typed through a small keyboard revealed by sliding the screen up. What this means for you, the player, is that when creating a topic on the network you will need to note in the subject line whether the post is a voice, video, or text post. Messages can be made private, but are also hackable depending on the ability of whoever sent it--use your own judgment on how well your character would be able to encrypt the message.

CAN I PLAY AN OC OR A NON-HUMAN CHARACTER?

OCs are not accepted, as this is a multi-fandom game. Non-humanoid characters are taken on a case-to-case basis, but you stand a much greater chance of being accepted if your non-humanoid character has a canon personality established (for example, Meowth or Optimus Prime). Without that canon personality to base your play on, there's no reason for us to believe your character wouldn't end up becoming another flavor of OC. We wouldn't accept say... just another moogle to be a character, because generic moogles have only one voice, but we could consider characters like Hurdy who has a canon personality and voice of his own.

Regarding really minor characters with little personality to work on, this is also a case-to-case basis. This is also why we want applications to be linked in the character journal, so that people will have something to skim through when they want to learn more of your character.

CAN WE PLAY A CHARACTER THAT HAS ALREADY DIED IN CANON?

Yes, of course. They would be alive and well in the game though.

CAN WE PLAY TWO OF THE SAME CHARACTER?

This depends on the character. For example, one person applies for KH Cloud and another applies for FF7 Cloud, then we could approve of this. However, if they would apply for a character like Viki, who appears in all of the Suikoden series but is essentially still the same character, then that's a no-go.

HOW DOES TIME WORK?

For now, one month in the real world equals one week in the game. This may change depending on how many players we get. Time in the canon world will not move, however, so the character doesn't have to fear that they've been gone too long from their world.

ARE THERE ACTIVITY CHECKS?

Because this game is quite plot-driven, yes. All we ask is that you post at least twice a month. Logs every month aren't mandatory for this, but they are a good show of activity. Comments to another entry can be considered as activity provided there are 10 consecutive tags in a row.

From the 1st to the 14th of each month, the mods will conduct an activity check. Here, you need to provide two links: One for the first half and another for the second half of the month. These could compose of logs, network posts or 10 consecutive comments in someone else's entry, just to see if they have been active during an event and during their stay in the living quarters.

CAN WE USE SAMPLES FROM OUR OTHER GAMES?

Only if you could somehow incorporate it into the Tower setting. We would like to see how you play the character in this game, and it wouldn't do us any good if you're playing an AU version of a character in a fairy-princess setting.

WHAT ARE PENALTIES?

Penalties are the consequences the Punisher decide on for things that go against the Tower's rules. Nobody is quite sure what logic he puts into his penalties. They range from the random (purple hair and green skin) to the severe (dropping levels, wounds) and often seem to depend purely on the mood he's in that day. Penalties will be discussed with the players of the offending characters before being carried out. By no means should this discourage you from getting your character into trouble! These are just in-character consequences. IC != OOC.

MY CHARACTER IS FROM (insert Seven member's name here)'s CANON!

That's nice, and feel free to have your character recognize and try to strike up conversation with that member of the Seven. However, don't misunderstand--the NPC won't have any memory of your character, because although they may have the appearance and personality of the being they knew, they are not the same.

MY CHARACTER KNOWS (insert other character)'s CANON!

Take this up with the player in question. As much as we would like to discourage 4th-walling, we know that some fandoms have a cross-reference to each other. So, in this case, it would be best to have the permission of the other mun about whether or not they are allowed to talk about their canon. Not everyone wants to find out they're just a character in a TV show or a game, after all.

MY CHARACTER WANTS TO GO HOME! CAN THEY LEAVE?

Nope! Not that anyone would want to; the tower is surrounded on all sides by water that goes on into the horizon. If your character wants to leave, the only way to go is up. After all, they can always wish to go home.

CAN MY CHARACTER HAVE HIS WEAPONS/POWERS?

Yes, and it would retain most of its abilities. This is, of course, depending on the ability of the weapon, which means that some would have to be limited. For example, characters like Sora who can travel to different worlds would lose the ability to travel those distances, but would still retain his combat abilities. Another example would be Lelouch's Geass which could control people. We could limit the use of it to a certain amount, or we could put a handicap on him (loses consciousness, weakness, etc.) depending on the situation. There will also be a power cap so that people don't go overboard with the mass destruction.

This would be handled on a case-to-case basis, which is why we would want you to give a detailed description of their abilities in the application.

Also, all powers will not be accessible while in the living quarters! You will only be able to use them again once an event starts.

CAN WE KILL THE SEVEN?

Uhhh... no. We may have certain events where you might be able to contact them physically, but the Seven aren't exactly easy to kill, and the fact that they control how the Tower works render almost anything you do to them useless.

... CAN WE KILL EACH OTHER THEN?

It's possible, but not exactly recommended. Killing another player incurs a penalty, and the severity of this depends on the mood of the guardian in charge. This is only possible during an event though, considering all powers and weapons are taken away when they are in the living quarters. Any weapons they try to use from the quarters itself like kitchen knives or home-made bombs will transform into something harmless like a rubber, bendy knife and bubbles. Be creative in how this works.

OKAY. CAN WE AT LEAST HARM ONE ANOTHER?

This is allowed, but take it up with the other mun. Again, also remember that if you try to start trouble in the living quarters, it would most likely be thwarted by some crazy magical way. If you want to start a fight, take it in the events.

AW, BUT WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHARACTER DIES?

You have our condolences. No really, you do.

First and foremost, your character will be brought and made to stay in the Underworld, the realm of the dead, for one day in-game time [that's three days in real time]. Doesn't sound so bad, does it? Not really because the Underworld is the most unpleasant place your character will be shoved into.

Think of a fun house and all its amusement devices. 'Fun', right? Well, not this one. Because you see, this fun house was built by the guardians to make sure that your character's stay in it would be as horrific as possible. Cue in slides that go on forever and ever and will probably land you in the middle of a burning furnace. Or how about a wall of mirrors designed to distort your character's reflections into monstrosities? And let's not forget about those sadistic clowns who will use all sorts of tricks to mess up with your mind! Don't worry though, they're not going to kill your character. Just scare the heck out of them.

After spending a day there, your character will be brought back to life and he/she will find themselves back in the living quarters, brand new and all. Or not, since he/she will still incur a death penalty depending on the gravity of their death. This will all depend on how they died, why they died, etc etc. Just pray that the guardian who will judge their death would be merciful.

WHAT IF MY CHARACTER DIES MID-EVENT THEN?

The guardians would be quite annoyed by that, if anything. And so, they'll be giving your character three penalties:

a. He/She is revived in the living quarters, which means he/she is sitting out the rest of the event.
b. Drops a level.
c. Incurs a death penalty.

CAN WE HAVE PETS?

No, sorry. You can possibly apply for a pet, but only if it has a canon personality and voice we can follow.

IF MY CHARACTER WAS WOUNDED/INJURED/MAIMED BEFORE COMING HERE, WOULD HIS INJURIES BE HEALED?

This is entirely up to the players. However, if let's say they lose their eye in canon, they will not be able to grow a new one in the Tower.

BUT WHAT IF HE WAS TERMINALLY ILL?

Again, this is up to you. However, if they die in the game, this still counts as an in-game death and would receive a penalty.

MY CHARACTER HAS A TAIL/WING/FINS/SCALE/ETC.

They could retain these, but it wouldn't do them any good in trying to leave the Tower.

CAN WE HUNT?

Sure! Though we don't see the reason for it, since they are provided with unlimited supply of food in the living quarters, but they could attempt it when they are in an event.

IF (insert Seven member's name here) ISN'T FROM (insert canon), HOW COME THEY RETAIN THEIR CANON NAME?

There's a very good explanation for that. Simply put, the mods are too lazy to give them new names, and since we can't think of names that would fit them better, it'll stay.

HEY, (Insert Seven member's name here) DOESN'T ACT LIKE THAT IN CANON!

Remember, we may be using the character as a PB, but they aren't necessarily the same character. We had to modify them in order to fit the demand of the setting, so chances are there would be things that are different. This is why we have an NPC post that has a basic description of the Seven themselves, so that you base what you know of them from there instead of their canon. If they act differently from what is written in the NPC post, however, feel free to tell us what's wrong so we could check it out.

CAN I APPLY (Insert Seven member's name here) EVEN IF HE'S ONE OF THE SEVEN?

Unfortunately, no. We do not want to cause too much confusion in the game. However, if there is a strong demand to play that character for whatever reason, we will think about it.

WHAT HAPPENS TO A DROPPED CHARACTER?

We assume that one of the Shadows had gotten to him and somehow persuaded him to follow them. No one knows what happens to the character, just that they suddenly disappear from sight. They are still inside the Tower, just in a place no one, not even the Seven, can see.

DO I HAVE TO FOLLOW A DROPPED CHARACTER'S PAST RELATIONSHIP IF I PICK HIM UP?

Nope. The thing with Shadows is that they like to erase any memories regarding them, though some Shadows go overboard and end up erasing more than they should, which is normally the experience in the Tower. So, your character could come back knowing no one he met from the Tower itself.

SO WHAT ARE THESE SHADOWS?

Basically they are the vengeful souls of those who were abandoned or left behind during the construction of the Tower. these are people who blame the Seven for their death, and would do anything in order to make things hard for them. They lead characters astray in order for them not to be able to fulfill their purpose, which of course, becomes problematic for the Seven from time to time.

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SO-AND-SO MUN!

As much as we do not want problems to start, we know it's bound to happen. If you cannot sort it out between the both of you first, then bring it to us. Please don't resort to making awful secrets about each other on RP!S or the RP Anon Meme because of a disagreement, especially when it's just a misunderstanding. We will try our best to help you out, and would even act as a middleman if you need.

Just a few reminders. IC =/= OOC. Meaning, just because his or her character treats yours badly, doesn't mean the other player is trying to be a jerk to you. Chances are, they are only doing it because they are being IC. Same goes for the player. If you're feeling irritable and angry at the moment, don't reply until you've walked around, calmed down and thought about things through. Would your character really react as negatively or as angrily? Try not to put your OOC feelings into your character either.

If you have problems regarding their characterization, there is always the player's HMD Post, if they have one. There will also be a HMD meme every two months for those who would want crit on their progress in-game, and we will make it anon-enabled PROVIDED no one starts wank in it. If they do, we will remove anon-enabling from it. This may sound a little harsh, but we want the game to be fun, personal attacks and wank do not contribute any help.

WHEN DO APPLICATIONS/RESERVATIONS OPEN?

Applications start from the 1st until the 10th of the month. Reservations, meanwhile, last from the 20th until the end of the month. This is to avoid conflict with ongoing events since we have to keep track of the players and the newcomers. If they introduced the character during an event period though, they will have to skip that event and let their character stay in the living quarters until the next event starts.

HOW DO WE CONTACT THE MODS?

We have a Mod Contact post here.

DO WE HAVE AN AIM CHATROOM?

Yes we do! The name of the chatroom is Rad Tower.

I HAVE A QUESTION THAT'S NOT LISTED ABOVE.

Comment here and we'll try to get back to you as soon as possible!
