that's the underlying assumption that this article is challenging. for most people living in western civilization, it is. for the billions of others who bear the exploits of US corporatism and realize our comfort is basically mutually exclusive to their welfare, it isn't.

i'm not trying to have some holier-than-thou attitude with the post or this comment, but it's difficult to continue living in comfortable ignorance once you realize this.

Honestly, I am beginning to lose faith in my Alma Mater, the UT School of Journalism. If it isn't Jensen and his leftist writings, its Marvin Olasky and his rightwing lunatic fringe incoherencies (wiki Marvin Olasky). Instead of teaching young journalists to be objective and balanced reporters, they are delving deeper and deeper into European-style advocacy journalism. The traditional role of the "Fourth Estate" in America is to objectively present the facts so that public can make up their mind and better exercise their democratic franchise as citizens and voters ( ... )
