APPLICATIONS
APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY OPEN.
Applications will be processed when the application window is open and the reservation window is closed (unless otherwise noted), and there are four responses that you may receive for your application: a request for Clarification, a request for a Revision, an Accepted notice or a Rejected notice. Please do not take offense if you are rejected; there is, more than likely, an explanation for your application's rejection and it will be given in response to your application. You will always be allowed to resubmit an updated application at any time if you are rejected!
You may submit your application in cascading comments, or you may link to the application in your journal if that is preferred. Please do not lock your application if it is in a journal until it has been processed. Thank you!
Don't forget to check the
reserved and
taken characters lists before posting your application!
The Application Form:
PLAYERNAME/NICKNAME: Your name, or what you'd like to be called.
AGE: Players must be at least fourteen (14) years of age and comply with LiveJournal's Terms of Service (ToS).
PERSONAL LJ: It's not required, but it would be nice.
TIMEZONE: So we will know when you're available!
EXISTING CHARACTERS IN-GAME: If this does not apply, just put N/A.
EMAIL ADDRESS: Required. We want to contact you somehow!
IM SCREENNAME AND SERVICE: Not required, but a fun thing to know so other players can keep in contact with you.
CHARACTERNAME: The character's full name, if possible.
AGE: Exact or an estimate. If it's weird, please explain.
FANDOM/MEDIUM: Where the character comes from and whether it's a show/book/movie/manga/anime/graphic novel/etc.
CANON PULL-POINT: Where and when in their canon you are pulling them from. (Example: "End of the movie", "After so-and-so died", etc).
ABILITIES: Any sort of canon abilities they may have.
CHARACTER BACKGROUND: This is your chance to briefly summarize your character's canon, so those of us that are not familiar with it will know where your character is coming from. You may instead provide a link to a Wikipedia article if it is deemed comprehensive enough (over 3 paragraphs). If not, we may request that you supplement it with more of a summary here.
CHARACTER PERSONALITY: This is where you will describe your character's personality. What motivates your character, how would your character react in given situations? Are there any personal battles this character is facing? How does this character act with their canonmates in canon? A minimum of three (3) well-written paragraphs is required.
WORLD: This is just for a brief description of the world that your character comes from, and the things they may come into contact with on a daily basis in their own canon; just for further reference of the character's setting.
OCCUPATION: In the Oregon Trail, your character will be given an occupation for playing the game. These roles will be basic: banker, doctor, merchant, pharmacist, wainwright, gunsmith, mason, blacksmith, wheelwright, carpenter, saddlemaker, brickmaker, prospector, trapper, surveyor, shoemaker, journalist, printer, butcher, baker, tailor, farmer, pastor, artist, and teacher. These roles may dictate their actions in game, but do not have to. They are just for fun.
SAMPLESTHIRD PERSON: This should be a minimum of 1 paragraph. In the third person sample we would like to see a demonstration of your character's thoughts, introspection, and actions in a given situation, rather than the dialogue expressed in a situation. Play around and be creative - give us a taste of your character's real behavior and their inner workings. This can be however long or short it needs to be; essentially, you decide whether or not you've given us the feel that you'd like us to see of your character.
FIRST PERSON: This should be a minimum of 4 sentences. The first person sample is a sample of the way that your character will make an entry in the main community. Your character is given a communicator that is initially around their wrist like a watch but is most like a smartphone. They may make voice, video and text posts from this communicator that will be broadcast on the network of communicators that all characters share in game.
NOTES: Anything else that you think should be mentioned.
You may refer to the applications in the comments for examples of the application process.
