Maybe - maybe if Izaya had died by someone else's hand, things could be different. Shizuo could enjoy the peace that would settle in Ikebukuro without the informant to screw things up as he was normally so fond of doing. Maybe he could learn to feel less burdened by the fact that he had been framed by Izaya, less concerned with revenge and more focused on his job. He could look forward to having less violent outbursts, and maybe that would help him feel better over all ( ... )

Izaya himself felt no true regret. He didn't really regret dying at the hands of the man he had always suspected he'd be killed by. Granted, that contradicted his prior statement. He had figured that one day things would get a little too out of hand. How could they not when it involved street signs flying at 30 mph if not more? It was always a lethal battleground between the two of them and it had always been a matter of time.

And a matter of fate. He didn't feel regretful of having been a 'bad person.' No, this experience had not instilled morals into Izaya that he had not previously had. He still thought on his life fondly and as though he were a god above humans. In the most diluted, god-complex way possible of course.

Despite all of this, Izaya felt the buzzing, nagging feeling of one single regret. One solitary regret that he never so much as mumbled to anyone else. Something that he never even thought about himself except for those nights. Those quiet nights where it was just him and his thoughts. It wasn't something he wanted ( ... )

Yeah, his clothes were wet, and yeah, he probably should change, but he wasn't going to jump when Izaya urged him. The last thing the Izaya he knew would ever do was help him, and judging by the way he was rambling about being a ghost, he wasn't going to be too keen on making life easy on Shizuo. Changing could wait until after the phone call. He wouldn't try Celty first, because Shinra could actually respond and, given their situation, represent the both of them.

The conversation was brief. Shinra, cheerful as ever, said that he and Celty were free for the moment, and that they'd be right over. Despite his light tone, Shizuo could tell that he was concerned. Most likely the result of Shizuo refusing to give any details over the phone. Once he hung up and tossed it to his couch, he dragged at his cigarette one final time, and reached over to put it out on his now-broken television.

What if Shinra and Celty would not be able to see Izaya? What if they thought he was crazy - in fact, what if he was crazy, and Izaya was a ( ... )

Izaya didn't want to admit it but it actually kind of hurt to hear that Shizuo hadn't bothered to show up. Granted, he also wasn't remotely surprised. He probably wouldn't have shown up at Shizuo's funeral either. Or maybe he would have. If only to celebrate the passing of the blond more than anything else.

"You don't have to be rude~," he said quietly, "I'm sure that someone could see in me what you never could. Ahh. I'm sure Mikage was there, hn.." he said, the last part more so to himself than it was directly to Shizuo. His head snapped around though and his red eyes slitted furthermore. This time he felt a stab of anger.

"At least people could stand to be around me for an extended amount of time, Shizu-chan. They didn't need to constantly worry about when I was going to crush their throats with my bare hands like some sort of animal. And at least a lot of people needed me. Tch. Who needs you? Your precious little brother certainly doesn't so what's your point to even live for?" he asked, and yes, he did sound cruel and bitter. ( ... )

Ah - there it was, Shizuo thought to himself. The expected attack - the throwing of his strength in his face. Indeed, most people were scared of him, especially now that he had succeeded in murdering someone. Most people avoided him, out of fear. And wasn't he like an animal? More than an animal - a monster. Izaya was right ( ... )

It was in the tight, concealment of the walls that Izaya got an idea. It was a little cruel but Shizuo deserved it at this point. He kept an eye on Shizuo but didn't bother to respond. Instead, he patiently waited. It actually felt solid in the walls. Something he didn't mind too much ( ... )

[OOC: Ahh I'm not really sure...Maybe she can just sense something is off? But not that it's actually Izaya. Also sorry I'm not on AIM for such discussion, I'm at work, haha. And yes def! I have no problem with sharing the secondary characters as needed. I love pulling them in because they help keep the line dynamic~]

Izaya hadn't responded to his threat. Shizuo didn't know what he was up to, but figured he was plotting something. When was the informant not? He sighed, and retrieved his cigarettes again. At his current smoking rate, he was going to need to stock up pretty heavily on his brand. He lit a fresh one, took a long drag, and then Shinra was storming through the door, calling around like a madman. Shizuo had a headache, and the over-energetic doctor was not helping matters.

Where was Izaya? Shizuo looked around. The informant had disappeared. Great. Now they were going to think he was going mad. Maybe he was going mad ( ... )

[Don't worry about it at all! It was a pretty simple question so it didn't need too much discussion luckily. I figured we'd come to the same conclusion anyway. That's what I was thinking too. I love pulling them in too. It adds a lot more, definitely. It'll be a lot of fun later on too.]

Izaya didn't come out. Instead, he watched with an expression of pure amusement. Shizuo had murdered him. The least Izaya could do was make Shizuo out to look as though he were insane. It was perfect, ideal even. It was also believable. Although he wanted to know what Celty was texting. Did she know that he was there?

Ah well.

Shinra seemed to be poking into nearly everything. As though Izaya would actually be hiding behind the couch. It wasn't until he nearly stepped on the glass of the broken television set that Shinra seemed to calm down.

"Shizuo," he said quietly, stepping back from the mess to look over at him. He looked at Celty with this expression and then over at Shizuo yet again. While Celty might not find Shizuo to be insane, Shinra ( ... )

Izaya had to be hiding on purpose. He probably wanted to mess up Shizuo's life even more, as though dying at his hand had not already caused him grief. Maybe Izaya wanted him to seem crazy. It occurred to Shizuo that he should have cleaned up the broken television before Celty and Shinra arrived. Having it laying there made Shizuo seem unstable. It didn't help his case.

At least Celty had faith in him. Shinra may have been dubious, but she at least could feel something off.

But...maybe he was going crazy. Maybe Shizuo needed Shinra to take a look at him, to make sure he wasn't losing his mind. The blond looked at the cigarette in his hand. The third in a row, just about. He walked to the kitchen counter and stubbed it out in an ashtray without finishing it. His hands weren't shaking anymore, but he was losing confidence - something that wasn't normal for him, at all.

"I don't know," he finally responded to Celty. "I was hoping you could get rid of him, but I guess I called you out here for nothing." That was better than saying, ( ... )

This was more of a joke than anything else. And Shizuo wasn't meant to be his only victim. Izaya wanted to play around with Shinra and Celty as well. He slid through the wall, watching Shizuo particularly close. He looked miserable. Something that Izaya could only smirk over. Just as Shinra and Celty were focused on Shizuo, Izaya stepped out from the wall ( ... )
