Owe Owe Owe

So at 1:45 something happened that shouldn't have, and I learned some addition: Thumb + Nailgun = Bad

So a co-worker drove me to the emergency room, after i joked with and grossed out the rest of the people i was working with. After much waiting and two people skipping me in line because i wasn't a priority I got to see the doctor. Now this doctor was a befuddled old man. He didn't know what to do. So I had to tell him what to do. Since nailgun nails come in clips they are all held together with thin wires. Once they are out fo the gun the little wire become little barbs faceing backwards. So the best way In general to take one out is to cut off the head and pull it the rest of the way through. The only cutting tool he had was made for removeing rings that are stuck on and need to come off. The doctor didn't know how to use it.. and it wasn't made for cutting nails, it didn't work well at all and took him a long time to do.

By the time he had it cut the novacain had already started to wear off. I told him to try to pull it anyway I was tired of waiting and figured it would be easier to get it over and done with. He pulled a few times and it didn't bludge... so he finaly decided to clean the wound. On further examination by me I could see that the barb was only a little ways in and was out further than normal preventing the nail from moveing forward. so i told he he had to cut around my nail because the rings on the nailgun nail to hold it in the wood would hold it in my finger, and cut around the barb to pull it out back the way it came... He followed my insctructions and after a few tugs...

Haha no just kidding.

So after 4 hours in the emergency room I had missed frisbee and had to go to the pharmacy for antibiotics. Apparently my insurance carrier had never heard of me... which makes no sense because they sent me an insurance card. I would have been pissed after sitting there for an hour and then haveing to pay for it myself, only i found out it was only $10, then i was just annoyed that i have to straighten out the not haveing insurance when i pay for it thing... anyway all in all an interesting day. Although it did suck, I love haveing a good story to tell. Now i have paperwork to do that i should have done instead of doing this.
