IMPORTANT BUSINESS.

Yes, it's nearly Christmas. Yes, the castle is decorated fantastically and stupid things like mistletoe exist. But please, for the love of all that is holy, do not use it as an excuse to be an idiot. I don't want a headache earlier than usual. I might get cranky.

It's vaguely reassuring that, apparently, there are still some people who don't descend into idiocy just because there are a few Christmas trees placed about the school. Other than myself, of course.

Only vaguely because though there are some, the majority will still go about being idiotic. And really, as much as I love giving out detentions and/or taking away house points, I have limits.

It seems that when the mistletoe and ivy go up, the students overall intellect goes down. Honestly, it's almost as though they forget that they're still in school. I caught a group of third years wrapping their presents in the library, of all places. Naturally, I ordered asked them to leave at once.

I'm sure Madame Pince appreciated it, though.

Somehow that just screams of guilty.

Well.

I didn't.

Do you know what it usually means when the first thing a person has to say is "I didn't do it?"

Mistletoe isn't stupid! No better time for kissing than Christmas when people lie in wait under mistletoe for a special person to come along and BAM! I carry some around in my pocket specifically for the festive occasion. You haven't seen Terry around, have you? Or, hey, where are you?

Do people really lie in wait, or are you just assuming that somewhere in the world, there are people that do? Also, I'm suspicious of telling you where I am, just because you carry mistletoe around.

Lavender's a witness to the aggressiveness of mistletoe stalkers. When you believe yourself to be highly attractive, you learn to avoid mistletoe, but sometimes it can just sneak up on you. I don't see why you should be afraid of getting a kiss from me. I'm no probing-tongue boy.

I'm not afraid, Megan. Just cautious. Which, in the case of random kissing, might be a good thing. I should put in a search for that first year, anyway.

You're a mean one, Mister Grinch.

Though I guess I share your feelings when it comes to people being idiotic.

I don't completely hate Christmas. I just dislike it. Mildly.

Mildly dislike it? That alone is troubling.

There's nothing wrong with not liking Christmas, Lavender.

The same goes for you, Goldstein. I wouldn't be surprised if you turned out as loony as the others.

Seeing as I'd rather avoid everything Christmas-like, It's highly unlikely.

Highly unlikely, but not impossible.

But it's still more unlikely than possible.
