That would be fine, if it didn't mean we were now paying him £500 per day. He even left early on the second day, to go to an emergency.

It feels like it would hve been nice for even a token amount (round down to the nearest 100, or something) to have been taken off the bill.

No, I haven't said anything yet/ This is a source of some discussion, because I wanted to just put a "I am disappointed" note in with the cheque. It is looking likely now that I will give him a call.

I am too British, when it comes to challenging people about anything.

I have just got off the phone with the plumber. "A quote is a quote" was his response. He did offer to knock £100 off, but I declined. I just don't trust him not to throw the "a quote is a quote" back at us later on.
