Once again....................................

Another year, another
So, just about once a year I remember about this whole livejournal thing and go

back and do two things: I fill out some sort of new year's survey, and I read back

through all the stupid posts I put up in high school. I reminisce about the past,

remember random times in my life and try to interpret my high school angst-ridden

ramblings about stupid events that don't even matter any more. I mean, they do

matter in the fact that it was stuff that happened to me and formed me into who I

am now in small ways, but it makes me feel good about being old in that I know for

a short while that I was young once and lived like a teenager. I think I'm closer

to 53 than 23 right about now.

One of my favorite personal quotes:
I stole chewie from burger king. he is now on my wall. if you don't believe me..

well, then you don't know me well enough.

Favorite quote from my dad:
"You're reading Diesel Power... you drive a Jetta."

1) Where did you begin 2010?
Hungover, about to chew my arm off. Yeah.

2) What was your status by Valentine's Day?
Underway, or stuck in Miami. The whole Venturous deal was, well, an ordeal.

3) Were you in school (anytime this year)?
Nah-dah.

4) How did you earn your money?
Going on 4+ years of the same employer, DHS/USCG.

5) Did you have to go to the hospital?
No, pretty sure not.

6) Did you have any encounters with the police?
For once, not. Except the (motor)bike cop, but that was luck. And the uniform. I'm

sexy in blue.

7) What did you purchase that was over $1000?
A nnneeewwww car! 2010 VW Jetta TDi M6. And parts for the car. Nothing like

modifying a brand new car!

8) Did you know anybody who got married?
My brother and his wife (at the same time! crazy!)

9) Did you know anyone who passed away?
Pretty sure not.

10) Did you know anyone who had a baby?
My future sister-in-law, Angela, had my future niece-in-law, Gemma.

11) Did you move anywhere?
Why yes, and further than across the hall. Across town now, ha!

12) Did you have sex?
Jes.

13) What concerts/shows did you go to?
Did I?

14) Are you registered to vote?
Still am.

15) Where do you live now?
416 Wallington Rd Wilmington. En route 500 Ashton Green Blvd, Newport News, VA

16) Describe your birthday.
Underway, kept it a secret and didn't get sang to. I hate it when they sing.

17) What's one thing you thought you'd never do but did in 2010?
Got back together. A year ago, I would have never believed me if I talked to me

now. Although time-space continuum dictates that I couldn't; if I could somehow

indirectly inform myself as to what would happen and past-me believed the story,

while unlikely due to my suspicion of any fortune-telling or other means of

sorcery, I would likely not believe the teller of said story, so subsequently I

wouldn't think I'd do it.

18) What kept you sane?
The drugs, they say, they make you feel so hollow. Sane. I meant sane.

19) What's something you've learned about yourself?
That I can't juggle.

20) Any new additions to your family?
Yes, a sister-in-law and a future wifey.

21) What was your best month?
They all had good qualities, but December was one to remember. Gay, I know.

22) What music will you remember 2010 by?
Lots. Nothing new in particular, but lots of memories from certain songs.

23) Who has been your best drinking buddy?
Jim, Jack, Jose, Paul, the monks, Ron, Mr. Jager, lots.

24) Made new friends?
Um, work people?

25) New best friend?
No.

26) Favorite Night out?
Christmas Party/Engagement night was surreal. Yeah, I said it.

27) Do you think 2011 will be better or worse?
Better, because that's the way it should always be. I hope. Beach wedding, anyone?

28) Compared to this time last year, are you:

a) happier or sadder?
Happier, much, much more so.

b) thinner or fatter?
Fatter, I eat too much. But I love food!

c) richer or poorer?
Both, again, because I spend more but I make more. Always happens to me. Debt-

wise, I took care of my credit card but I also owe more on one thing than anything

I've ever owed before.

29) What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
Got engaged to be married.

30) Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next

year?
Going 20+ years strong with no hopes so no disappointments. It's more of a day-to-

day thing.

31) Did anyone close to you die?
Unfortunately, yes. And no. I didn't know her as well as others, but I knew her

well enough. RIP Amy, you were a great friend to all.

32) What countries did you visit?
Dom Rep was the only new one.

33) What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
Maybe a dog?

34) What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory forever, and why?
December 19th was a big one.

35) What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting engaged, I guess. Not achievement, but lifetime milestone for sure.

36) What was your biggest failure?
Getting defeated time and again by a front suspension, I never will install

coilovers on a VW ever again. Pay someone else, I say!

37) Did you suffer illness or injury?
Heartache that was later cured by the unprecedented conversations we're capable

of.

38) What was the best thing you bought?
My car. It's cool, it's diesel, it's my clak-clak. Only big purchase, really.

39) Whose behavior merited celebration?
Both of ours, for figuring out what we want and are willing to work for.

40) Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own sometimes, because I'm so damned stubborn a lot.

41) Where did most of your money go?
Rent, car, girl, booze. Not always in that order. All for good times!

42) What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My car. My first diesel. My first turbo. My first sunroof. My first new car! 12

miles!

43) What song will always remind you of 2010?
Everlong, because it was our first dance as an engaged couple.

44) What do you wish you’d done more of?
Lifted weights.

45) What do you wish you’d done less of?
Eat and drink, not always in that order.

46) How will you be spending Christmas?
I should have a good chance of being off work, so hopefully with our/my family.

47) Did you fall in love in 2010?
All over again. You succeeded, my dear.

48) How many one-night stands?
I still have two or three night stands, but they're more of shelves. Double-duty.

49) What was your favorite TV program?
I didn't have cable for at least four months of the year, plus time underway,

so... um?

50) Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Honestly, no. Still unsure of the idea of hating people, just things mostly. Like

mustard or sour cream. Or slow songs that suck, like pop.

51) What was the best book you read?
Time magazine?

52) What was your greatest musical discovery?
That I can't play guitar, but I'm a mean air guitar player. And karaoke singer!

53) What did you want and get?
A nnneeww car! (announcer style) Well, a good relationship with a very awesome

female that stemmed into something more.

54) What did you want and not get?
A million dollars.

55) What was your favorite film of this year?
Shrek, probably. Hilarious first time I saw it, and still funny. DO THE ROAR!

56) What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Um, 22. Was underway and made sure nobody knew it.

57) What’s one thing that would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A million dollars.

58) How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Same as always, although I did grow some good beards.

59) Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I think they all dress pretty fancy, way more so than I.

60) What political issue stirred you the most?
The fall of the Berlin Wall. Stalingrad?

61) Who did you miss?
My roommate's free cable.

62) Who was the best new person you met?
Susan, maybe? He's me from another life.

63) Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
Move. We all move, everyday, but are you really getting anywhere? There's always

ways to move forward, and somewhere else, and figure yourself out in the process

as we all need to do from time to time. Staying still only gets you in the way and

hit, or honked at least. Be accepting of new ideas, and accept that other people

see things differently and as much as you won't change your mind, maybe you will.

Accept change, it's inevitable and unavoidable. Those two things mean pretty much

the same thing, but just accept it. See? My point is proven. Nobody reads this,

but I just changed your mind. Love the past but don't live in it. Don't dwell,

it's only good for points in your distributor. Don't eat the yellow snow.
