Poll: Sex & Booze

No special reason for polling. I was just thinking about cultural differences - and got curious. The first question's there for me to see if/how the subjective answers differ based on people's age.

It totally depends on the fifteen-year-olds in question. In general, I think fifteen is right on the borderline of being mature enough to handle either alcohol or sex, but provided that they take proper precautions, I'd rather see them screwing than drinking.

Fifteen year olds drinking is okay, as long as they don't overdo it. I don't think fifteen year olds should be drunk every night, but it's okay if they do it every once in a while. Having sex at fifteen is okay too, in my opinion, as long as they're both ready for it and are careful.

Drinking age and age of consent in Luxembourg are both 16 which I find perfect :) 21 for drinking is toootally exaggerated cause everyone drinks before that anyway.

I think it completely depends on the 15 yr olds in question. When I was 15, I was drinking, and I can tell you it lead to some very bad choices. And then there were my friends, who could drink and have sex at 15 with no issue.

I think it's more about consquences than ability. Is a 15 year old ready emotionally for the possible consquences of sex, the feelings involved with it, and, if they are engaging in heterosexual sex, a pregnancy? My answer to that is probably not. I don't think a 15 yr old is equipped to handle raising a child or going through the difficult decision of abortion or adoption. There is something to be said for emotional maturity and 15 yr olds just aren't that world weary yet.

It depends on the fifteen year olds and who is with them. Drinking in a pub or bar to me seems kind of out there but a bunch of fifteen year olds partying down in a house and getting all liquored up and fucking each other, though sure to bring regret later on, seems pretty normal to me.

I think as long as the 15 year old is responsible about sex, it's consensual between both parties, and uses birth control then it's fine. Drinking I have more qualms about because one's judgment becomes impaired, and while I've known teenagers who drank responsibly when a parent was around (wine with dinner) teenagers drinking in groups without supervision, eh, not so much. Of course, people's thinking while drinking becomes impaired even when they are adults, which I guess is the flaw in my thinking there. That said I think the legal drinking age in the US (21) is ridiculous.
