I'm considering what themes I wish to incorporate into future art pieces this year. I've done a few Victorian pieces and plan on continuing/expanding here in good time for Steamcon. Additionally, I've lately been feeling a strong desire to return to my "roots" as I really miss using anatomical illustrations as centerpieces such as Lost, SentienceRead more... )

Okay, don't hate me, but I found an idea on Martha Stewart's website that I thought was quite lovely: Making shadow boxes using mementos of travel. It serves as an elegant display and also a kind of 3-D scrapbook. Just a thought :)

Oh no, not Martha Stewart!! You darken my page with promise of pastels.. j/k, heheh..

That is an excellent theme, thank you, as there is selmon a great way to display sentimental memories that are often associated with travel mementos. The pieces are so subjective in their meaning. I have a friend who is commissioning me to make him a shadow box with photos and pieces of the Berlin Wall! I am so honored and I can totally see why he'd want to have them displayed in this way rather than kept in a drawer like he's had them until now.

I like how you call it a 3-D scrapbook. Essetially, this is what that is!
